Role Responsibilities:

• SAP Basis Manager – Roles & Responsibilities

  Oversee the entire technical foundation of the SAP landscape, acting as the "system guardian" who ensures all SAP operations run smoothly, securely, and efficiently 

• Key Responsibilities

• System Installation & Configuration — Oversee the installation and configuration of SAP systems BW, NetWeaver including server setup, database configuration, and SAP instance/client parameters to ensure all components integrate seamlessly 

• System Monitoring & Performance Tuning — Ensure continuous monitoring of system health, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk space), work processes, system logs, short dumps, and performance metrics; proactively identify and resolve issues before they escalate  

• Transport Management — Manage and govern the Transport Management System (TMS), overseeing the controlled movement of changes across DEV, QAS, and PROD landscapes; configure transport routes and ensure system consistency and integrity  

• User & Authorization Management — Oversee user account creation, role assignments, and authorization profiles; administer roles and permissions on a daily basis to prevent Segregation of Duties (SOD) conflicts and ensure GRC/SOX compliance  

• Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery — Design and implement backup and restore strategies; ensure business continuity by managing disaster recovery procedures and system recovery planning 

• Patch Management & System Upgrades — Plan and execute SAP kernel upgrades, support package stacks, and enhancement packs; apply SAP security notes and coordinate patching windows with application owners  

• Database Administration — Oversee database health, including backup scheduling, space management, performance tuning, database reorganizations, and maintenance of physical database layout  

• Client Administration — Manage client copies, client transports, and system refresh activities (create, copy, delete, export/import clients) as required 

• Documentation & Reporting — Develop and maintain system documentation for all SAP instances and interfaces; provide status reports for projects to management

• Team Leadership & Collaboration — Lead and coordinate the Basis team; collaborate with IT and business units to modernize the SAP environment; work with functional consultants, security teams, and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-functional issues 

• SAP Landscape Strategy — Evaluate and design interfaces between SAP and external systems; manage migration of SAP database and application configuration into production; analyze, develop, and maintain data architectures and process models 

• Security & Compliance — Implement security patches, monitor system access and activity, ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, and oversee firefighting tasks with proper logging  

• Core Skills

• Technical Expertise — Strong knowledge of SAP architecture, database management (SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL), operating systems (Linux/Windows), and SAP tools such as Solution Manager, CCMS, SM50, SM66, ST05, STMS, SU01, PFCG  

• Performance Tuning — Ability to analyze and optimize system performance across memory, CPU, work processes, SAP buffers, and database growth [1] [2]

• Transport & Change Management — Proficiency in managing the Change and Transport System (CTS), including STMS, SE09, SE10, and structured change control methodologies [3] [2]

• Security & Authorization Management — Expertise in role-based access control, authorization profiles, SOD conflict prevention, and GRC/SOX compliance [1] [4]

• Problem Resolution & Troubleshooting — Ability to analyze complex situations and provide timely problem resolution across system incidents, short dumps (ST22), RFC failures (SM59), and batch job issues (SM37)  

• Communication Skills — Excellent written and oral communication skills to liaise with management, IT teams, and business stakeholders; ability to provide clear status reports and documentation 

• Cloud & Hybrid Landscape Management — Familiarity with managing SAP systems in cloud environments including SAP BTP, AWS, and Azure, including sizing, HA/DR setup, and hybrid integration 

• Work with SAP team in maintaining stable landscape along with ability to showcase Industry’s advanced solutions to improve efficiency 

• Hands on experience with SAP system builds, refreshes and upgrades

• Handle Support requests and incidents within the SLA

• Experience in migration of SAP workloads to Microsoft Azure – Both Greenfield and Brownfield implementations.

• Experience with Authentication technologies with cloud system for seamless user experience

• Hands on experience in technical landscapes of S/4 HANA, SAP ECC and Cloud integration

• Should be able to mentor Junior team members and coach them

• Expertise in transport management across landscapes

• manage daily operations, including system monitoring, performance tuning, user management, patching, transport management, and troubleshooting, with specific focus on the HANA database (backups, replication, optimization), ensuring high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR), applying SAP Notes, and collaborating across teams for seamless system support and issue resolution
