Job Description

Financial Analyst II, FOAA Cash Accounting

The Financial Analyst will partner with the Global Cash Accounting teams to support launching, operationalizing, and maintaining Amazon's payments infrastructure across entities, platforms, and marketplaces. The successful candidate will be strategic, analytical, and adept at managing the financial responsibilities of a high-growth business.
The ideal candidate brings superior attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a strong AI-first mindset with a bias toward automation and technology-driven solutions. This role offers significant growth opportunities at the intersection of accounting, technology, and global operations.

Key job responsibilities
Core Accounting & Financial Operations
- Work independently to design and implement Cash accounting methods.
- Perform financial reporting, monthly P&L analysis, financial forecasts, and ad-hoc financial modeling; present recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions.
- Facilitate monthly and quarterly business reviews with data-driven analysis; follow through with business leaders on actionable items to improve business metrics.
- Ensure accounting principles, internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are in place, documented, and operating as intended.
- Drive process improvements to enhance controls; actively participate in strategic initiatives.

Bank-to-GL Reconciliation
- Own end-to-end Bank-to-GL reconciliation across multiple entities and currencies, ensuring daily match rates meet defined thresholds and all open items are resolved within SLA.
- Perform root cause analysis on reconciling items by analyzing bank statement data, ERP postings, and payment gateway outputs to distinguish systemic mismatches from one-off exceptions.
- Maintain and improve reconciliation control frameworks, ensuring unreconciled items are escalated, documented, and tracked to resolution with a clear audit trail.
- Partner with the Tech team on data quality standards for bank statement ingestion pipelines and support month-end/quarter-end close by ensuring all material open items are fully explained.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide updates within and across business units regarding transition to new processes and support the Amazon accounting team.
- Coordinate with global accounting teams to establish communication channels and adhere to best practices.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UATs) in coordination with business and accounting teams; measure and report progress on key goals in a timely manner.
- Offer and receive coaching, support, and guidance to the team.

AI-First Process Ownership
- Design and deploy AI/ML-powered workflows to automate high-volume accounting tasks — including bank reconciliations, journal entry posting, and variance analysis — improving accuracy and auditability.
- Act as AI product owner for accounting automation initiatives — define requirements, validate model outputs, and bridge engineering and accounting operations.
- Build and maintain intelligent reconciliation models that auto-match bank transactions to GL entries, flag anomalies, and route exceptions for human review.
- Evaluate and scale AI-native finance tools and proactively challenge manual processes in favor of scalable, technology-driven controls.

Data, Automation & Analytics
- Develop and maintain self-serve reporting dashboards and automated data pipelines, enabling real-time visibility into cash positions, reconciliation health, and open item aging.
- Leverage SQL, Python, or low-code platforms to independently build analytical models and automate data extraction from ERP systems, reducing engineering dependency.
- Design financial models with real-time data feeds to enable dynamic forecasting and scenario analysis.

Controls, Compliance & AI Governance
- Work closely with auditors on audit-related queries and ensure smooth audit completion.
- Responsible for GRC compliance, internal controls, and stakeholder alignment on improvements and changes.
- Establish AI model governance standards for accounting automation — covering output validation, exception handling, model drift monitoring, and SOX-compliant audit trails.
- Ensure all AI-assisted processes are explainable, auditable, and compliant; engage with internal audit and GRC teams to document automated control design and effectiveness.
