Supervisor – Melting

This position is responsible for achieving daily production targets of Melting as per defined quality and defined norms of production

Production Management

·        

Responsible for daily shift-wise production planning

·        

To maintain target production output with rejection

controls and quality.

·        

To monitor the production process and re-schedule,

whenever required.

·        

Responsible for inventory control during the shift

·        

Responsible for manpower utilization during the

shift

·        

To maintain shift-wise production data in terms of

quantity produced, % rejections, down-time,

Material consumption, power consumption

Resource

Optimization

·        

To take measures to decrease the operating cost.

·        

To minimise total downtime due to various factors

Continuous

Improvement

·        

To implement quality guidelines, tools, techniques

etc

·        

To identify new improved processes for productivity

improvement

Maintenance

·        

To co-ordinate with maintenance staff for break-down

and preventive maintenance of furnace

·        

To ensure proper furnace lining as and when done

Safety and Health

·        

To implement safety guidelines in the department

·        

To ensure proper house-keeping in the department

People Management

·        

To deal efficiently with the labour in the

department

 ·        Physical properties and quality of raw material

·        Metal chemistry of CI and SGI

·        Microstructure of CI and SGI

·        Charge calculation and sequence for different grades

·        Effect of inoculation in metallurgy of CI

·        Mg treatment in SGI

·        Effect of trace elements in CI

·        Interpretation of chill sample for quality of melt

·        Knowledge of melting process

·        Spectrometer and carbon equivalent meter

·        Furnace lining and ladle lining

·        Furnace overhauling

·        Process control parameters
