Job Description
Position: Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Industry: Real Estate Development
Location: Bangalore
Reporting To: Senior Accountant
Role Overview
The accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, project-wise accounting, statutory compliance, vendor payments, and financial reporting specific to real estate development projects. The role requires strong coordination with project teams, procurement, legal, and sales departments to ensure accurate financial tracking across multiple developments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in compliance with accounting standards.
- Record daily transactions including receipts, payments, journals, and adjustments.
- Manage general ledger, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing activities.
- Prepare trial balance, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets.
2. Project-Based Accounting
- Maintain project-wise cost tracking and budgeting.
- Monitor construction expenses and contractor billing.
- Track land acquisition costs, approvals, and statutory payments.
- Support project profitability analysis.
3. Vendor & Contractor Payments
- Verify contractor RA bills and supplier invoices.
- Process vendor payments as per agreed schedules.
- Maintain vendor ledgers and reconciliation statements.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms before releasing payments.
4. Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and other statutory regulations.
- Prepare and file GST returns and TDS returns.
- Maintain RERA-related financial documentation where applicable.
- Coordinate with auditors for statutory and internal audits.
5. Receivables & Customer Collections
- Track customer payment schedules linked to construction milestones.
- Maintain records of booking advances and instalment receipts.
- Coordinate with the sales team on overdue collections.
- Generate customer account statements.
6. Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparation of project budgets and variance analysis.
- Generate MIS reports for management review.
- Support cash flow planning and forecasting.
- Provide cost analysis reports for decision-making.
