VMC Machine Operator

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and responsible VMC Operator to operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines for precision machining of components as per drawings, specifications, and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor VMC machines safely and efficiently.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Set up jobs, tools, fixtures, and workpieces as per requirements.
• Load and unload components properly.
• Operate CNC/VMC programs and make basic program corrections when required.
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and tool length compensation.
• Perform in-process inspection using instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Bore Gauge.
• Maintain required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Identify machining defects and take corrective action.
• Monitor tool wear and replace tools when required.
• Maintain proper machine housekeeping and follow 5S practices.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
• Coordinate with the Production and Quality teams to meet production targets.
• Maintain production and inspection records.
• Report machine problems, tool issues, and abnormalities to the supervisor.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of VMC machine operation and basic CNC machining.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods.
• Good knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
• Knowledge of G-code and M-code ,Mistubushi will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience operating 3-axis/4-axis VMC machines.
• Experience in precision component machining.
• Knowledge of CNC/VMC machine setting and tool offset correction.
• Experience with Mitsubishi controls will be an advantage.
