Fabrication Automation Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Fabrication Automation Engineer who can support the design, fabrication, assembly, installation, and automation of industrial machines and production systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication, conveyor systems, machine structures, industrial automation, sensors, motors, pneumatic systems, and basic PLC controls.

The candidate will work closely with Mechanical Design, Electrical, PLC, Vision Inspection, Production, and Vendor teams to develop reliable and efficient automated machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and supervise fabrication of machine frames, conveyor systems, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and sheet-metal structures.
• Convert mechanical drawings and concepts into practical fabricated assemblies.
• Select and coordinate fabrication materials such as MS, SS, aluminium, and sheet metal.
• Coordinate cutting, welding, drilling, bending, machining, and assembly activities.
• Support the selection and mounting of motors, gearboxes, rollers, bearings, pneumatic cylinders, sensors, and other machine components.
• Work with Automation Engineers to integrate PLC, HMI, sensors, VFDs, motors, actuators, and control systems.
• Support the development of vision inspection machines, conveyor automation, material handling systems, and automated production equipment.
• Prepare and review fabrication drawings, BOMs, layouts, assembly drawings, and machine specifications.
• Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, tolerances, rigidity, and safety of fabricated machine structures.
• Coordinate machine installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and modifications at site.
• Identify opportunities to replace manual operations with semi-automatic or fully automatic systems.
• Coordinate with vendors for fabrication, machining, automation components, and machine integration.
• Ensure machines meet required quality, productivity, safety, and performance standards.
• Maintain documentation including drawings, BOMs, inspection reports, machine records, and modification history.
