Job Description
- Roles & Responsibilities – Fire & Safety Technician (Commercial Project)
- Operate, monitor, and maintain fire protection and safety systems installed in the commercial building.
- Conduct regular inspections of fire pumps, jockey pumps, diesel pumps, hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and fire extinguishers.
- Monitor the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and attend to fire alarm faults, alarms, and system abnormalities.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance of fire and safety equipment.
- Check and maintain fire hydrants, hose reels, landing valves, fire doors, emergency lights, exit signs, and fire extinguishers.
- Conduct regular fire pump testing and record pump pressure and operational parameters.
- Attend to complaints and breakdowns related to fire protection systems and ensure timely rectification.
- Maintain daily logbooks, checklists, inspection reports, maintenance records, and breakdown reports.
- Assist in conducting fire drills, emergency evacuation drills, and safety awareness programs.
- Ensure fire exits, escape routes, fire equipment, and emergency access areas are free from obstructions.
- Support the Facility Manager / Fire & Safety Officer during inspections by authorities and third-party agencies.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with Fire NOC requirements and statutory safety regulations.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for AMC, servicing, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Inspect and monitor fire alarm detectors, MCPs, sounders, modules, and fire alarm panels.
- Check fire extinguisher pressure, validity, accessibility, and service dates.
- Identify potential fire hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Follow all EHS, emergency response, and work permit procedures.
- Respond promptly to fire emergencies and support emergency response and evacuation procedures.
- Maintain adequate knowledge of fire safety systems, emergency procedures, firefighting equipment, and basic electrical/mechanical systems.
Preferred Experience: 2–5 years in commercial buildings, malls, IT parks, hotels, hospitals, or high-rise buildings.
