Job Purpose (Job Summary): 

Invesco is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Investment Technology team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in full-stack application development, cloud-native engineering, and modern software development practices. This role requires hands-on experience in designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise solutions while collaborating closely with global teams and business stakeholders.

The successful candidate will also have exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Machine Learning (ML), and AI-assisted software development practices, helping drive innovation and operational efficiency across investment management platforms.

Your Team:

The Fixed Income Technology team develops and supports software solutions that enable Invesco's global investment business to make informed decisions and deliver superior client outcomes.

We leverage modern technologies, cloud platforms, data engineering frameworks, and emerging AI capabilities to build scalable and innovative solutions. As a globally distributed team, we collaborate closely across regions and functions to deliver best-in-class technology products. Your Role:
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining business-critical applications and platforms. You will play a key role in driving technical excellence, mentoring team members, and contributing to architecture and design discussions.

Working closely with business partners, product owners, and engineering teams, you will translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while ensuring compliance with Invesco's engineering, security, and quality standards.

You will also be expected to identify opportunities to leverage AI-driven capabilities, automation, and modern engineering practices to improve productivity and business outcomes.

  

You Will Be Responsible For:

·         Own end-to-end delivery of development tasks including requirements analysis, solution design, development, unit testing, deployment, and production implementation.

·         Design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native applications and data solutions.

·         Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve critical application, integration, and batch-processing issues.

·         Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical design decisions.

·         Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and best practices.

·         Develop high-quality, maintainable, and testable code following Agile and DevOps principles.

·         Ensure appropriate documentation for applications, operational processes, and support procedures.

·         Establish and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality frameworks.

·         Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.

·         Collaborate across global teams to drive solution consistency and technical excellence.

·         Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, performance, and automation.

·         Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI code assistants) to improve engineering productivity.

·         Collaborate effectively with business users, product owners, architects, and engineering teams.

·         Translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Experience You Bring:

·  8+ years of experience in software application development.

·  4+ years of hands-on experience with Python and/or C#/.NET.

·  4+ years of experience building and deploying solutions on AWS Cloud.

·  4+ years of experience with SQL, data modeling, and Snowflake.

·  Experience developing modern web applications using React or similar frameworks.

·  Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design, design patterns, and distributed systems.

·  Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.

·  Solid expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.

 

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to Generative AI, Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents, or AI-powered business solutions.
• Experience with AI development frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI APIs, Azure AI, Amazon Bedrock, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with DBT, Apache Airflow, Airbyte, and modern data engineering tools.
