Senior Backend Developer – Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies, Azure Cloud Services, API development, database design, and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade backend applications and cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure. The role requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on building secure, scalable, and high-performing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Application Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, and .NET 8+.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration services supporting enterprise applications.
  • Develop reusable, maintainable, and high-quality code following modern software engineering practices.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and application defects.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and development teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Azure Cloud Development
  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
    • Work extensively with Azure services such as:
    • Azure Function Apps
    • Azure Logic Apps
    • Azure Service Bus
    • Azure App Services
    • Azure Storage Accounts
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure SQL Database
    • Azure Application Insights
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure resources to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in cloud architecture discussions and implementation of Azure best practices.
• API & Integration Services
  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable APIs for internal, external, and third-party integrations.
  • Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using industry-standard protocols.
  • Integrate enterprise applications, databases, cloud services, and external systems.
  • Ensure API reliability, performance, and security through proper design and monitoring.
• Database Development
  • Design and develop relational database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and performance tuning solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and scalability of database systems.
  • Work with NoSQL technologies and understand non-relational data modelling concepts where required.
  • Support database migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
• DevOps & CI/CD
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and related tooling.
  • Automate build, deployment, testing, and release processes.
  • Support infrastructure and application deployment activities across environments.
  • Monitor application health and deployment performance to ensure stable releases.
  • Promote DevOps best practices including version control, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Security, Performance & Support
  • Implement secure coding and cloud security best practices.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents through root cause analysis.
  • Support application monitoring, logging, diagnostics, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational architecture, security, and governance standards.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture patterns, and cloud-native development.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Strong hands-on developer with the ability to independently design, build, and troubleshoot backend solutions.
• Experience developing cloud-native and enterprise integration solutions on Azure.
• Ability to work across development, cloud, database, and DevOps domains.
• Experience supporting production environments and performing root cause analysis of complex issues.
• Exposure to AI-enabled applications, automation solutions, and modern software engineering practices.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including Architects, DevOps Engineers, QA, Business Analysts, and Product Owners.
