BMS Hardware Design - Datacenter
Application Engineer (Hardware Design) – Datacenter
What you will do
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead global Data Center Building Management System (BMS) engineering projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, customer requirements, and account-specific standards. The role requires independent ownership and execution of projects throughout the entire lifecycle, while serving as the first point of escalation for technical and project-related issues. Ensure adherence to data center-specific engineering and project execution processes, maintain high quality standards through a "First Time Right" approach, and deliver projects on schedule to achieve operational excellence and maximize customer satisfaction.
How you will do it
- Review MEP drawings to generate following drawings / documents for systems covered into Datacenter Project
- Shop Drawings (ACAD drawings)
- Detailed IO List contains all hardware points, software points and integration points if applicable, along with trend and alarm details as applicable
- Creation of Bill of material, selection of sensors, control valves, dampers, air flow stations, controllers etc.
- Generation of Panel GA
- Generation of detailed Control devices and controller wiring, terminations, interlock wiring
- Engineering Documents
- Preparation of BMS Network diagram as per specifications and approved solution
- Generation of detailed description of operation control based on specifications and design intent
- Generation of various schedules like Valve, Flowmeter, Damper, panel, DDC etc.
- Preparation of test scripts for panel factory witness tests
- Generation of initial review sheets and RFI’s
- Coordination with all stakeholders for clarification on RFI’s, tracking progress and with different vendors during finalization of BOQ
- Ensure quality assurance and defect free hardware package delivery
- Adherence with all processes and guidelines to execute project within timeline
- During pre-bid stage support sales team for providing/validating controls solution for systems into Datacenter project.
What we look for
- BE/ME (Instrumentation / Electrical/ Electronics / Electronics & Communication
- Hands on experience with Hardware Engineering scope for Datacenter Vertical
- Good Understanding of Data Centre mechanical / electrical systems with expertise for instrumentation and control, panel wiring, complex relay logic
- Experience in detailed panel design – power calculation, selection of panel enclosure, terminal blocks, fuses, panel heaters, light etc.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems from Datacenter vertical like Chilled Water System, Cooling Towers, Primary & Secondary pumping systems, Fluid Coolers, Heat Exchanger, CRAH, CRAC, CDU, Different types of AHUs, FCUs, VAV systems etc.
- Strong knowledge of BMS architecture with different types of Operator workstations, Supervisory Controllers, DDC controllers, Sensors & Actuators etc.
- Knowledge of different types of network protocols like BACNet, LON, Modbus, OPC, and other protocols
- Must be proficient in wiring of starters, field devices, safety interlocks & panels
- Experience in engineering, installing and commissioning of HVAC & BMS systems for Datacenter projects or other infrastructure projects like pharmaceuticals, airports, commercial buildings, hospitals
- Must be a quick learner & should have a keen eye for problem solving
- Proficient in written and verbal communication
- Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills
Preferred
4 to 8 years of relevant experience in Building Automation Industry Datacenter Vertical, BMS Design Engineering or Industrial Automation.
