Captain/Steward – Jaalakam

Restaurant: Jaalakam – Window to Flavours of Kerala

Jaalakam is looking for experienced, energetic and customer-focused Stewards who understand that great restaurant service is not just about taking orders — it is about making every guest feel welcomed, helping them choose the right food and creating an experience that makes them want to return.

What We Are Looking For

* Previous experience as a Steward / Waiter / Captain in a good restaurant.

* Well-behaved, polite and presentable with excellent personal hygiene.

* Naturally friendly and comfortable interacting with customers.

* Strong sales attitude — able to recommend dishes, suggest combinations, upsell appropriately and help increase the average customer bill without being pushy.

* Good knowledge of Kerala cuisine and ability to explain dishes, ingredients, flavours and suitable combinations to customers.

* Should be familiar with popular Kerala dishes such as Appam, Idiyappam, Porotta, Puttu, Kerala Meals, Biryani, Kappa, Stew, Fish Curry and other traditional Kerala preparations.

* Ability to understand customer preferences and confidently recommend the right dishes.

* Should be attentive and proactive in identifying customer requirements during dining.

* Ability to handle customer concerns calmly and professionally.

* Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

* Should be a team player and coordinate effectively with kitchen, service and billing teams.

Language Requirements

Candidates should be able to converse comfortably in:

Malayalam – Required

Hindi – Required

English – Required

Kannada – Added advantage

Key Responsibilities

Welcome guests warmly, assist them with seating and menu selection, take orders accurately, recommend Jaalakam specialties, actively promote suitable add-ons and beverages, coordinate with the kitchen for timely service, check customer satisfaction during the meal, maintain table cleanliness and ensure every guest receives a warm and memorable Jaalakam experience.
