About Position:

Airbus is looking for a Group Manager Digital Connectivity to join the Bengaluru, India location.

Position Overview: Lead the Digital Connectivity team within the Digital Infrastructure & Platforms Department. The role focuses on delivering, securing, and operating robust network infrastructure and enterprise connectivity solutions. Success requires strong disciplinary leadership, a deep background in modern network architecture, and an exceptional track record in end-to-end service delivery.

The successful candidate will establish team goals by identifying, evaluating, and understanding the business and digital strategy & technical trends. He/She will accomplish the team results/performance by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, coaching, and leading the team in the right direction.


Qualification & Experience

  • Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, or a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Experience: 12+ years in Network Engineering and IT Operations, including proven disciplinary leadership, team management, and global IT service delivery management.

  • Domain Knowledge: Professional background in managing critical enterprise infrastructure is required (Aerospace industry background is a plus). General understanding of Engineering IT processes is expected; highly specific enterprise networking and service delivery domain expertise is mandatory.

  • Technical Stack: Advanced architectural proficiency in modern network ecosystems, specifically:

    • LAN: Campus & Data Center switching (e.g., Cisco Nexus, Arista), VxLAN, EVPN, High Availability protocols, Software-Defined Access (SD-Access) & cloud connectivity.

    • Wi-Fi: Wireless & Industrial: Wi-Fi 6/7 architectures and deployments (e.g., Cisco Catalyst/Meraki, Aruba), IoT,  4G/5G and next-generation shopfloor/Digital Factory solutions. .

    • WAN: SD-WAN architectures (e.g., Cisco Viptela, Versa, Palo Alto Prisma), MPLS, Internet transport optimization, Cloud On-Ramp, and global routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).

    • Network Security: Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW - Palo Alto, Fortinet), SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Network Access Control (NAC/ISE), and secure VPN solutions.

    • Automation & Cloud: Cloud networking (AWS/Azure) and Network Automation (Python, Ansible, NetDevOps).

  • Preferred Certifications:

    • Expert/Professional Network Certifications: CCIE (Routing & Switching/Enterprise), CCNP Enterprise, Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP), or equivalent.

    • Security Certifications: PCNSE (Palo Alto), CISSP, or Fortinet NSE 7/8.

    • Service & Project Management: ITIL v4 Managing Professional, PMP, or SAFe Agilist.

  • Methodologies: Advanced knowledge of ITIL service management frameworks, Agile/SAFe frameworks, and DevOps/NetOps practices.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel if needed on short notice.

  • Language & Soft Skills: Business-fluent English and strong communication skills for continuous collaboration with European partners.  

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop network engineering teams ensuring alignment with global product roadmap. Execute staffing strategies via direct hiring and partner/supplier management.

  • Network Harmonization: Drive large-scale network harmonization initiatives to standardize legacy infrastructures, consolidate disparate environments, and unify connectivity frameworks across global locations.

  • Regional Accountability (APAC or similar continental Operations): Direct the setup, migration, and day-to-day delivery of network operations across multiple countries within the continental footprint, ensuring local compliance, operational governance, and seamless cross-border regional delivery.

  • BCP / DR Readiness & Testing: Own the strategy, readiness, and resilience of the network infrastructure via robust Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR). Establish schedules for, orchestrate, and validate regular live DR simulation tests to ensure zero-downtime failover capabilities.

  • Operations & Service Delivery: Lead high-availability network operations, ensure maximum infrastructure uptime, and enforce strict SLA/KPI fulfillment alongside agile project delivery, and mitigate local/regional infrastructure risks.

  • Technical Steer: Enforce network engineering and security standards, driving the transition toward modern, software-defined, and cloud-integrated network architectures.

  • Intercultural Orchestration: Act as the strategic and operational bridge between the Bengaluru hub and European partners, aligning local execution with global business objectives.

  • Empowerment & Culture: Empower team members by delegating authority and encouraging individual responsibility for goals. Cultivate a workplace environment that mirrors the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Logistics & Governance: Administer operational logistics including work schedules, on-call support rotations, and leave management. Ensure clear, transparent, and effective communication across the team.

  • Escalation Management: Actively resolve critical network incidents/escalations, perform root-cause analysis (RCA), and maintain agreed-upon performance metrics.

  • Global Alignment: Serve as an intercultural liaison to strengthen corporate relationships across global teams. Coordinate with global partners and stakeholders to ensure network project and operations alignment.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply enterprise-wide perspectives to identify and address emerging business infrastructure needs. Regularly integrate lessons learned to drive multi-axial continuous improvement. Collaborate with senior management and project boards to provide progress updates.

Success Metrics

Success will be measured in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:

  • Agile mind-set, collaborative way of working, and rapid reaction times during critical network outages or infrastructure emergencies.

  • Flawless SLA fulfillment, network uptime, MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution) reduction, and service availability.

  • Consistently ensuring the on-time, within-budget delivery and quality of network infrastructure projects.

  • Bringing innovative, cost-effective, highly scalable, and secure connectivity solutions.

  • Achieving high internal customer, engineering department, and business stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Ecosystem synergy: Flawless operational coordination and strict adherence to governance models with the local IT organisation.
