Position Summary

We are seeking an Executive Director – Cloud Engineering & Solution

Architecture to lead cloud engineering capabilities while also overseeing Solution Architecture for Microsoft based opportunities. This role is responsible for shaping cloud engineering strategy, driving engineering excellence across platforms and services, and providing architectural leadership for complex cloud programs. The Executive Director works closely with senior stakeholders, partners, and delivery teams to ensure cloud solutions are well architected, secure, scalable, and aligned to business outcomes.

This is a senior leadership role combining cloud engineering ownership, architecture leadership, and client facing solution shaping.

 

Essential Functions of the job

Cloud Engineering Leadership

• Lead cloud engineering solutioning across cloud platforms, infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, security, and operations.
• Define engineering standards, delivery models, and best practices for cloud programs.
• Drive adoption of automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and reliability engineering.
• Ensure engineering teams deliver solutions that are resilient, secure, performant, and cost effective.

 

Solution Architecture – Microsoft & Cloud

• Lead the Solution Architecture team for Microsoft technologies, with focus on Azure based cloud solutions.
• Guide architecture design for cloud modernization, platform builds, and complex transformation programs including across Data & AI, and Microsoft Security solutions.
• Provide architectural oversight and direction across cloud engagements, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Act as senior architecture authority for key programs and solution decisions.

 

Delivery Excellence & Quality

• Own engineering quality and technical assurance across cloud engagements.
• Establish review mechanisms for architecture, engineering design, and delivery readiness.
• Support teams in managing technical risk, architectural trade offs, and performance issues.

 

Client Engagement & Solution Shaping

• Partner with sales, account, and delivery leaders to shape cloud solutions for pursuits and programs.
• Participate in solution design discussions, technical workshops, and executive level solution defenses.
• Translate business requirements into cloud solutions aligned to platform capabilities and constraints.

 

Partner & Ecosystem Collaboration

• Work closely with Microsoft and other cloud partners on solution alignment and technical enablement.
• Support partner led initiatives through strong engineering and architecture leadership.
• Represent the organization in client and partner forums on cloud engineering topics.

 

Talent & Capability Building

• Build, mentor, and lead cloud engineers and architects across levels.
• Define capability expectations, skill development priorities, and certification focus areas.
• Foster an engineering culture centered on cloud native design, security by design, reliability, and continuous improvement.

 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities

• Work across EY Member Firms, GDS, and enablement teams to identify the best solution for client outcomes.
• Bring multiple solution options and guide clients on trade-offs (time, cost, risk, architecture, operating model).

 

Education & Experience

• 20+ years of experience in cloud engineering, solution architecture, or technology consulting.
• Proven leadership experience across cloud engineering teams and architecture functions.

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

• Strong expertise in:
  • Cloud platforms (Azure preferred) 
  • Platform engineering, DevOps, and cloud operations
  • Application modernization and integration patterns o   Security, identity, governance, and cost optimization
• Experience supporting large, complex cloud transformation programs.
• Strong ability to engage with senior client stakeholders and influence technical direction.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
