Practice Overview

Financial Services is one of the Industry Practices within Accenture’s Global Network (GN). Our team is spread across multiple cities globally and in India focusing on serving global clients across Banking, Capital Markets and Insurance industries.

  • Banking – Our practitioners possess a good mix of banking industry and consulting skills and have been involved in defining strategy, designing operating model & processes, and supporting implementation for building high performance banks. We have a strong focus on Payments, Core Banking, Credit Services and Digital Channels for large global financial institutions.
  • Capital Markets and Retirement – We work with clients across the globe to address strategic, operational, regulatory, technology, and growth challenges across capital markets, wealth management, and retirement services. For retirement clients, we support recordkeeping modernization, Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit operations, IRA and Roth IRA propositions, participant experience transformation, target operating model design, cost transformation, regulatory change, and AI-enabled operations.

Principal Domain and Expertise

Suitable candidates should be able to consult with clients in their subject matter expertise across Retirement Services, Wealth Management, and Capital Markets, with particular focus on U.S. and Australian retirement industry transformation.

Role Summary

Typical Consulting and Business Analyst responsibilities and experience include:

  • Retirement Services consulting, business analysis, transformation, or operations experience
  • Assess AS-IS and TO-BE processes and define target operating models for recordkeeping, plan administration, participant servicing, and pension operations
  • Develop and manage business requirement specifications, functional requirements, user stories, process maps, and operating procedures
  • Support transformation strategy, business case development, value realization planning, project management, and change management
  • Engage with onshore and offshore client teams across operations, technology, product, risk, compliance, and business leadership
  • Structure ambiguous business problems, synthesize data, develop recommendations, and prepare executive-ready presentations
  • Define AI, GenAI, automation, analytics, and digital use cases for retirement servicing, reconciliation, valuation, compliance, participant engagement, and administration
  • Strengthen offerings by developing collateral, reusable assets, methodologies, POVs, proposal content, and market trend insights
  • Incorporate Accenture delivery methods, governance practices, and quality standards across the project lifecycle

Responsibilities by Level

Analysts / Consultants

Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on the U.S., Australian and any other requiremed retirement landscape, including recordkeepers, asset managers, plan sponsors, platforms, regulations, and competitor positioning
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on cost, operations, participant behavior, process performance, and service outcomes
  • Develop client-ready PowerPoint deliverables, Excel analyses, structured summaries, and documentation under Consultant and Manager guidance
  • Support process mapping, requirements gathering, PMO reporting, risk and issue tracking, action logs, and milestone management
  • Document current-state and target-state processes across recordkeeping, retirement operations, participant servicing, and plan administration
  • Research AI and GenAI use cases for retirement recordkeeping, participant engagement, servicing, and administration
  • Maintain accurate documentation, source traceability, version control, and deliverable quality

Consultant responsibilities include:

  • Own and deliver one or more workstreams within retirement transformation programs, ensuring quality, timeline, and value outcomes
  • Plan and facilitate client workshops, working sessions, design reviews, and requirements validation sessions
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements, solution designs, process changes, and implementation roadmaps
  • Lead current-state assessments and future-state design for operating model, platform modernization, cost transformation, and digital enablement initiatives
  • Guide Analysts, review outputs, manage day-to-day stakeholder interactions, and prepare executive communications and steering committee materials
  • Contribute to proposals, POVs, reusable assets, and retirement-services offerings
  • Be up to date on regulatory changes related to global retirements industry

Experience and Skills

  • AI-enabled operations / intelligent process transformation experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working on consulting, transformation, technology improvement, operations improvement, or business architecture programs is required
  • Experience in U.S. and Australian Retirement Services, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets, ideally across recordkeepers, asset managers, plan sponsors, retirement platforms, or third-party administrators
  • Deep functional knowledge of Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, IRA / Roth IRA, plan administration, participant servicing, pension administration, recordkeeping operations, and retirement customer journeys
  • Experience with operating model design, process redesign, cost transformation, platform modernization, product strategy, digital enablement, or regulatory change
  • Hands-on or advisory exposure to recordkeeping and retirement ecosystem platforms such as Alight, Fidelity, Vanguard, Empower, TIAA, Principal, Voya, John Hancock, Schwab Retirement Technologies, as well as Australian ecosystem players such as Link Group, Mercer, AMP, AustralianSuper or similar platforms is desirable
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, SECURE Act 1.0/2.0, retirement compliance, fiduciary considerations, plan sponsor obligations, and pension administration is preferred
  • Practical exposure to analytics, visualization, automation, AI, GenAI, or cloud-enabled transformation in financial services is desirable
  • Manager and Senior Manager candidates must have strong consulting experience in leading client discussions, managing teams, shaping solutions, and contributing to RFI / RFP / RFQ responses

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Data/Analytics, Technology, or a related discipline is required
  • Master Management Degree such as MBA, PGDBM, MMS, or equivalent is preferred for Consultant and above levels
  • Retirement industry credentials such as ASPPA QKA/QPA/CPC, NIPA APA/APR, or equivalent are an added advantage
  • CFA, CFP, FINRA SIE / Series 6 / Series 7 / Series 63 / Series 24, PMP, Agile/Scrum, Prosci, cloud, analytics, or AI certifications are desirable depending on level and role focus

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in digital transformation, intelligent automation, AI/GenAI, analytics, and operating model redesign from a Retirement Services and Wealth Management perspective
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and client interaction skills, with ability to engage stakeholders across business, operations, technology, risk, and compliance
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to determine information needs, interpret data, identify insights, and translate analysis into business recommendations
  • Structured problem solving, hypothesis-driven analysis, logical thinking, and ability to present ideas convincingly to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across global, onshore/offshore, cross-functional, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong requirements management, documentation, workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, change management, and program delivery skills
  • Initiative in tracking changing retirement industry practices, regulatory developments, platform trends, AI-led transformation opportunities, methods, tools, and techniques
