Senior MSSQL & PowerShell Automation Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior MSSQL & PowerShell Automation Engineer to support, enhance, and optimize enterprise data platforms and automation frameworks. The role involves managing SQL Server databases, developing and optimizing complex database solutions, building enterprise-grade automation frameworks using PowerShell, and providing technical leadership for production-critical systems. 

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in MSSQL development, database performance tuning, PowerShell automation, data integration, and production support, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, drive automation initiatives, and mentor junior team members.

MSSQL Development & Database Engineering

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain:

• Work with large-scale enterprise datasets and business-critical applications. 
• Support data migration, archival, transformation, and optimization initiatives.

  • Data Integrity Problems
  • Database Performance Bottlenecks 
• Perform database health assessments and recommend optimization strategies.

PowerShell Automation & Scripting

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced PowerShell automation solutions. 
• Build scalable and reusable automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency.

• Integrate PowerShell scripts with:

• Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing automation solutions. 
• Identify manual processes and drive automation improvements across support operations.
• Establish scripting standards, code review practices, and automation best practices.

Data Integration & Processing

• Work with enterprise data pipelines, ETL processes, and data movement workflows. 
• Support integrations using: 
  • REST APIs
  • JSON
  • XML
  • Enterprise Data Exchange Mechanisms 
• Develop scripts and database solutions for: 
  • Data Extraction
  • Data Transformation
  • Data Loading (ETL) 
• Collaborate with application teams and business users to support data-related requirements. 
• Troubleshoot integration, synchronization, and data quality issues.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor junior database and automation engineers.
• Conduct code reviews for SQL and PowerShell solutions.
• Provide guidance on database optimization and automation best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across database and support operations.
• Participate in solution design discussions and technical reviews.
• Support effort estimation, planning, and technical risk assessments.

Application Support & Operations

• Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support for database-driven applications and automation workflows. 
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex database and automation-related incidents.
• Monitor database performance, scheduled jobs, alerts, automation tasks, and system health. 
• Perform incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and issue resolution within SLA timelines. 
• Support database deployments, releases, patches, environment refreshes, and maintenance activities. 
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and support teams for issue resolution. 
• Ensure adherence to ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management. 
• Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge repositories. 
• Support critical production incidents, disaster recovery activities, and business continuity requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

• 6–8 years of relevant experience in MSSQL development, PowerShell automation, and application support.
• Strong hands-on experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale database platforms. 
• Proven experience building automation solutions for operational efficiency and platform reliability.
• Experience supporting production-critical database environments. 
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. 
• Microsoft SQL Server, PowerShell, or related certifications are a plus.
