SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) Consultant - Data and Analytics

Job description 

We are seeking an experienced SAP business objects consultant with strong hands-on expertise in developing managing and troubleshooting enterprise BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of SAP BOBJ tools to be capable of delivering optimized reports and dashboards and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in SAP analytics cloud will be considered a strong advantage 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and optimize reports dashboards and universes using SAP business objects tools such as web intelligence Lumira designers IDT/UDT and CMC. 

• Perform end-to-end BI solution delivery from requirement gathering to production deployment and user support 

• Troubleshoot complex reporting data connectivity and performance issues across BOBJ environments. 

• Manage scheduling, publication, and security configurations within BOBJ platform. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality timely and reliable BI deliverables. 

• Maintain and enhance existing BOBJ job applications ensuring stability and alignment with evolving business needs 

Provide Technical Support for incidence root cause and performance optimization 

• (Good to have) Develop and integrate SAC dashboards and stories leveraging live and import connections 

• Contribute to BI modernization initiatives including migration upgrades and hybrid analytics adoption 

• Lead end-to-end upgrade activities including environment assessment, upgrade strategy preparation, scheduling, and coordination with BASIS and infrastructure teams. 

• Perform detailed impact assessments on reports, universes, data connections, and dependent systems to identify compatibility issues. 

• Install and upgrade SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform and associated tools (Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, etc.) ensuring configuration and environment integrity. 

• Conduct thorough testing of existing reports, dashboards, and universes, identifying and fixing any functional or performance issues post-upgrade. 

• Develop test cases and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles, ensuring end-user validation and sign-off. 

• Document upgrade procedures, test cases, and troubleshooting steps. Conduct training sessions to familiarize users and support teams with new features or changes. 

• Provide immediate post-upgrade support for issue resolution, system optimization, and ensuring business continuity. 

Essential Skills 

• 5-10 years of experience in SAP BOBJ suite web intelligence, lumina designer, IDT/UDT and CMC 

• Strong troubleshooting skills in report failures, query performance, and data connectivity issues 

• Experience with universe design data modeling connection setup for BW4Hana and non SAP sources knowledge of report scheduling bursting and publication workflows 

• Exposure to BEx queries, HANA views or SQL based data sources. 

• Hands on experience in BOBJ server administration promotion management and version upgrades 

• Familiarity with cloud migration strategies for BI platforms 

• Familiarity with BI2025 and its essential features. 

• Upgradation from BOBJ 4.3 to BI-2025. 

• (Good to have) practical experience in SAP analytics cloud for building analytical stories and dashboards 

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills 

• Prior experience in Host Path mounting for event-based scheduling 

• Hands-on experience in CMS & FRS Recovery 

• Good experience in APS Splitting, Auditing DB Optimization, SSL certificates and Load balancers. 

• Experience in designing and executing functional, integration, and regression tests for BI reports and universes. 

• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues quickly during upgrade and post-implementation phases. 

• Strong documentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Capability to manage upgrade timelines, risk mitigation, and stakeholder coordination. 

• Experience with SAP BOBJ SDKs, knowledge of BI platform architecture, familiarity with automation and scripting tools for upgrade tasks. 

Nice to Have 

• Exposure to SAP Datasphere or SAP BW/4HANA integration with BOBJ/SAC. 

• Experience working in agile BI delivery models 

• Prior experience in Host Path mounting for event-based scheduling, • Hands-on experience in CMS & FRS Recovery, • Upgradation from BOBJ 4.3 to BI-2025.
