System Development Engineer, AFT Platform Engineering & Services

he Amazon Fulfillment Technologies - Platform Engineering Services Team is looking for a System Dev Engineer who will join the team responsible for supporting automated Quality Assurance and Testing solutions for Grocery and AFT software.

About the Role

Your problem-solving skills will directly benefit customers by ensuring Amazon's Grocery and AFT services deliver on their promises. You will leverage AI-powered testing frameworks to accelerate quality assurance, reduce manual testing effort, and ensure software reliability at scale.

Your solutions will impact our customers directly! This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success.

The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

A day in the life
A typical day on our team involves collaborating with other engineers to deploying software through our large automated systems, and operationally supporting your newly deployed software. You will seek out new approaches to automate fixes for operational issues, use AWS services to solve design problems, and engage other internal teams to integrate your applications with theirs.

About the team
AFT’s Platform Engineering & Services team leverages data, process improvement, and innovative technologies to provide comprehensive engineering excellence services/solutions across AFT’s product portfolios.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience building test automation frameworks and tools
- Experience in manual testing, test planning, and creating detailed test cases
- Experience debugging, diagnosing, and troubleshooting complex, production software issues
- Experience in a test-driven and formal QA development environment, including development, staging, production (or equivalent) deployment cycles
