SAP-PS-Project System-Assistant Manager

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP Project System (PS) in SAP S/4HANA to enable precise planning, execution, monitoring, and control of projects, covering both technical and commercial aspects and ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

• Drive integrated project processes across Finance, Controlling, Materials Management, Sales, Plant Maintenance, HR, and related solutions such as Enterprise Portfolio & Project Management (EPPM/PPM), leveraging SAP Fiori and embedded analytics where applicable

Technical Abilities: 

Solution design and blueprint

• Define project structures including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and networks/activities to support structural and process-oriented planning and control.

• Develop end-to-end PS designs for customer projects and internal projects (overhead and capital investment), aligning with business outcomes and compliance needs.

• Identify and design integration with FI/CO for budgeting, availability control, postings, results analysis, and settlement; with MM/SD/PM/HR/EPPM for logistics, procurement, maintenance, and resource management.

Configuration and build

• Configure project profiles, status management, coding masks, authorizations, substitutions/validations, user-defined fields, versions, scheduling, and mass operations for project structures and networks.

• Set up cost planning and budgeting, availability control, results analysis, and settlement rules to control costs and margins throughout the project lifecycle.

• Enable Fiori-based operational reporting and new line-item reports for PS, taking advantage of S/4HANA accelerators and Smart Business where relevant.

Testing, data, and cutover

• Define and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance testing for PS scenarios and cross-module processes; build test scripts and resolve defects.

• Lead data migration for projects, WBS elements, networks/activities, budgets, commitments, and balances; validate migrated data accuracy and completeness.

   

• Plan and execute cut-over for open projects and period transitions; ensure period-end activities and settlements are aligned for go-live.

Reporting and analytics

• Implement Project Information System reporting and guide users on standard behavior for plan/commitment/actuals, currency, and performance in S/4HANA.

• Set up analytical KPIs and drilldowns using Fiori/Smart Business to monitor costs, revenues, margins, progress, and schedule adherence.

Run, optimization, and governance

• Provide hyper care and ongoing optimization of PS processes, including enhancements to transparency, risk reduction, and cross-entity navigation in complex projects.

• Ensure compatibility with S/4HANA scope guidelines for PS and advise on roadmap and compatibility scope considerations.

• Establish and maintain templates, master data standards, and governance collaborating with PMO roles for portfolio/project standards and templates.

Methodology and enablement

• Apply SAP Activate (fit-to-standard) throughout Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run; produce solution documentation, configuration guides, and user training materials.

• Coach project managers and key users on PS capabilities for planning, execution, and financial control; promote adoption of simplified, role-based Fiori UX.

 

Requirement:

• 7–10 years of hands-on SAP PS experience with multiple full-cycle implementations in ECC and S/4HANA; proven expertise across WBS, networks/activities, cost planning/budgeting, availability control, results analysis, and settlement.

• Strong cross-module integration experience: FI/CO, MM, SD, PM, HR; exposure to EPPM/PPM integration and logistics/financial flows impacting projects.

• Demonstrated capability implementing S/4HANA innovations for PS, including Fiori apps, line-item reporting, and Smart Business tiles for project execution and monitoring.

• Deep understanding of project types and funding models: customer projects (externally financed) and internal projects (overhead, capital investment) and how they drive PS design choices.

• Proficiency in reporting via Project Information System and S/4HANA line-item analytics; ability to guide on standard behaviors and performance considerations.

• Experience establishing standards/templates and working with PMO to define company-wide portfolio/project practices.

   

 

Must-Have Certifications

• SAP S4 HANA Project Systems Certified 

• SAP S4 HANA Public Cloud Certified

Experience & Background 

• B-Tech/BCA/MCA/MBA

• 7 -10  Years of SAP SD experience.
