Role Summary
The Senior Project Manager (Communications) will be responsible for independently leading and delivering communication‑led and change‑driven initiatives across enterprise programs and functional portfolios. The role works closely with Communications, Change Management, Business, and Functional stakeholders to ensure structured execution, clear and consistent messaging, and timely delivery of communication plans and artifacts.
This is a senior functional project management role with strong emphasis on coordination, structured planning, dependency management, and disciplined execution of multiple communication workstreams aligned to transformation and operational change initiatives. The role requires a self‑starter who can lead the Communications PM function end‑to‑end with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of communications and change‑related project workstreams, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives, timelines, and priorities.
- Independently plan, manage, and drive execution of multiple communication workstreams running in parallel across enterprise initiatives.
- Develop, track, and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and dependencies using Smartsheet and Project Task Management tools.
- Partner closely with Communications and Change Management teams to operationalize communication strategies, change plans, stakeholder engagement, and adoption activities.
- Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure timely inputs, reviews, approvals, and sign‑offs for communication deliverables.
- Act as a central point of coordination by connecting the dots across updates from different workstreams and translating them into clear project plans and status views.
- Track and report project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively identifying impacts and escalating as required.
- Maintain high‑quality project documentation including project plans, status updates, RAID logs, action trackers, and change logs.
- Support planning and execution of key milestones such as leadership communications, change rollouts, campaigns, townhalls, and event‑based communications.
- Ensure consistency, sequencing, and alignment of communication activities across related initiatives and programs.
- Drive execution discipline, governance, and continuous improvement in how communication projects are planned, tracked, and delivered.
- Lead the Communications Project Manager role independently, operating with high ownership, accountability, and limited supervision.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in project management within communications, change management, or functional transformation environments.
- Strong familiarity with communications and organisational change concepts, including stakeholder engagement, messaging, and adoption initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage complex functional projects with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Smartsheet, including task management, dependencies, reporting, and dashboards.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a self‑starter, requiring minimal supervision while maintaining strong delivery ownership.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize inputs from diverse stakeholders and present cohesive, meaningful updates.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to work seamlessly across teams and leadership levels.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Good to have a strong flair for Organisational Change Management and experience supporting change initiatives alongside communications.
- Experience working on enterprise‑wide change, transformation, or strategic communication programs.
- Strong understanding of Project management frameworks.
- Experience preparing executive‑level updates, summaries, dashboards, and leadership‑ready communication materials.
- Ability to operate confidently in high‑priority, time‑sensitive programs with leadership visibility.
