Job Description
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. The role requires minimizing equipment downtime by performing preventive and corrective maintenance while following all safety standards and company procedures.
- Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motors, control panels, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, and lighting systems.
- Install, test, and commission electrical equipment and wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Inspect electrical systems regularly to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper functioning of transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and power distribution systems.
- Carry out cable laying, termination, and panel wiring as required.
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment history.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow all electrical safety regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety policies.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- QualificationsITI/Diploma in Electrician, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Valid electrical license (where required).
- Experience2–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment.
- Experience with motors, control panels, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems is preferred.
- Required SkillsStrong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical manuals.
- Basic knowledge of PLC and automation systems.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns.
