Job Title: Operations Expert, Assistant Vice President

Location: Pune, India

Role Description

The Tax Operations team consists of five core functions:

  • National Tax Reporting - responsible for the distribution process and fulfilling German tax requirements for our fund range of German, Luxembourg and Irish funds
  • Tax Reclaim - responsible for filing tax reclaims in various countries on behalf of our fund range of German, Luxembourg and Irish funds
  • International Tax Reporting - responsible for filing tax declarations and/or tax reportings in various countries such as India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, UK.
  • Quality & Strategy - responsible for analyzing new tax laws as well as tax law changes and developing according strategies to implement changes for all tax operations teams as well as analyzing existing processes and process gaps to ensure continuous tax compliance and efficiency.
  • Tax Operations Support - provide support across various functions within Tax Operations EMEA. The team's responsibilities include assisting with national tax operations, tax reclaim processes, international tax reporting, and supporting the Quality & Strategy team.

As a member of the National Tax Operations Team, you are responsible to technically support the maintenance of the tax reporting for institutional investors and sustainably increasing efficiency and minimizing tax compliance risks through the design and implementation of technical process automation. In particular, you will primarily focus on Tax Operations-related processes and the enhancement of existing solutions, particularly utilizing XML, Python, VBA and a similar language used by a third-party tool to produce tax declaration for German special funds. IN your role you act as a bridge between the technical setup/administration of existing tools on the one hand and the tax regulatory requirements on the other hand.

Your key responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer existing tax tools and tax workflows (utilizing in particular XML, Python, VBA, Power Automate, and Power Query). This also includes the creation of necessary documentation.
  • Design, build, test and maintain tax processes to identify optimization and automation opportunities that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Management of the compliance process in connection with End-User-Developed Applications (EUDAs) and existing tools (TPRM / PRR, etc)
  • Translate business requirements from National Tax Team into existing and/or new technical solutions and automated procedures.
  • Assess process risks continuously and propose effective mitigation measures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and implementing new processes across National Tax Operations.

Your skills and experience

  • A degree in Finance, Taxation, Economics, Business Administration, Business Informatics, or a related field.
  • Fluent English required; additional German language skills are an advantage.
  • Practical experience with automation tools (XML, VBA, Python, Haskell is an advantage).
  • Experience in tax operations, tax reporting, or the broader financial services industry.
  • Experience with fund accounting systems (SimCorp Dimension is an advantage).
  • Strong Excel skills and robust data-handling capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Structured working style, keen attention to detail, and a high sense of responsibility.
  • A strong team player with ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-border teams.
  • Enjoy working closely with colleagues to develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to explain complex technical topics in an understandable and accessible manner.
