Food and Beverage Specialist

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Product Development (R&D): Formulate new food and beverage concepts, test novel ingredients, and scale up recipes from kitchen trials to large-scale factory production.
• Quality Control & Assurance: Establish raw material specifications, monitor production lines, and conduct sensory evaluations (taste, texture, color, and aroma) to maintain consistency.
• Food Safety Management: Implement and oversee food safety systems like HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), conduct microbiological testing, and prevent contamination.
• Shelf-Life Testing: Design and execute stability studies to determine accurate product expiration dates and optimal storage conditions. [1, 2]
• Process Optimization: Modify manufacturing methods and equipment settings to improve production yield, reduce waste, and lower costs. [1, 2]
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all ingredients, processing methods, and final product packaging comply with local and international food laws (such as FSSAI, FDA, or EFSA).
• Packaging Selection: Collaborate with packaging engineers to select materials that preserve food freshness, prevent damage, and remain cost-effective

Skills and Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Microbiology.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of food chemistry, preservation techniques, thermal processing, and laboratory testing methods.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Certifications (Preferred): Certified in HACCP, ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management Systems), or Lead Auditor credentials.
