Overview:

We are seeking a Principal CAE Automation Engineer to drive the digital transformation of structural analysis processes through software development and workflow automation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python and TCL/Tk, combined with a solid understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) and stress engineering. This role involves designing and deploying scalable automation tools for commercial CAE applications, driving engineering productivity, influencing automation strategy, mentoring engineers, and championing software development best practices for CAE applications.

Education and mandatory skill requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 12+ years of hands-on experience developing engineering automation solutions using Python and TCL/Tk.
• Proven experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining engineering software and automation tools for CAE applications.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming, software architecture, and code optimization.
• Experience developing automation for one or more commercial CAE tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperWorks, MSC Nastran/Patran, ANSA, FEMAP, or Siemens NX.
• Strong understanding of FEA modelling standards.
• Experience developing GUIs, APIs, and workflow automation tools.
• Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (Git), code reviews, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Experience integrating engineering tools with databases, PLM systems, or engineering data repositories.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers in software development and automation best practices.

Preferred skill requirements:

• Experience in aerospace structural/stress analysis and certification processes.
• Knowledge of CAD automation and integration with tools such as CATIA or Siemens NX.
• Experience with engineering data management systems such as Teamcenter, Polarion and/or DOORS.
• Experience developing REST APIs or web-based engineering applications.
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and data engineering concepts.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud-based engineering environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Exposure to Model-Based Engineering (MBE), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or digital thread initiatives.
• Experience applying Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning techniques to engineering workflows, including AI-assisted code generation or engineering productivity tools.
• Experience leading enterprise-wide digital engineering or automation initiatives.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture definition, technology strategy, mentoring, or leading cross-functional teams.

• CAE: HyperWorks, HyperMesh, HyperView, ANSYS, Abaqus, MSC Nastran/Patran, FEMAP, ANSA, LS-DYNA, Siemens NX
• CAD/PLM: CATIA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Polarion, DOORS
• Software Development: Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Visual Studio Code, PyCharm
• Data & Integration: SQL, REST APIs, JSON/XML, Power BI
