Helper/cleaner – Roles & Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Housekeeping Assistant is to ensure that the café remains clean, hygienic, organized, and presentable for customers and staff at all times.

Responsibilities

1. Cleaning & Maintenance

- Sweep and mop café floors.

- Clean tables, chairs, counters, and customer seating areas.

- Wipe glass doors, windows, mirrors, and display areas when required.

- Maintain cleanliness of washroom and handwash areas.

- Ensure the entrance and surrounding area of the café remain clean and welcoming.

- Remove dust from furniture, shelves, décor items, and other visible surfaces.

2. Utensil & Washing Support

- Wash cups, plates, utensils, and other café items as required.

- Keep the washing area neat, clean, and organized.

- Ensure utensils are cleaned properly and stored in their designated places.

- Assist in maintaining overall cleanliness of the pantry and washing section.

3. Washroom & Customer Area Upkeep

- Regularly inspect and clean washroom facilities.

- Refill handwash, tissues, and other consumables whenever required.

- Ensure customer seating areas remain tidy throughout operating hours.

- Immediately clean any spills or messes noticed in customer areas.

4. Hygiene Standards

- Maintain personal cleanliness and a neat appearance while on duty.

- Follow hygiene and cleanliness standards instructed by management.

- Use cleaning materials and equipment responsibly.

- Ensure all cleaning tasks are carried out safely and efficiently.

5. General Support

- Assist café staff with cleanliness-related tasks whenever required.

- Report any maintenance issues, breakages, leakages, or cleanliness concerns immediately.

- Help maintain a pleasant and comfortable environment for customers.

- Support the team during busy hours whenever assistance is required.

Work Expectations

- Punctuality and regular attendance are mandatory.

- Duties should be completed without constant supervision.

- Respectful behaviour towards customers, staff, and management is expected at all times.

- Mobile phone usage during working hours should be limited to emergencies only.

- A proactive attitude towards cleanliness and upkeep of the café is expected.

The above responsibilities are indicative in nature. Additional housekeeping, cleaning, and operational support tasks may be assigned from time to time as required for the smooth functioning of the café.
