Housekeeping Supervisor - Hospital (Shamshabad)

Job Purpose: The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily environmental hygiene and sanitation operations across all hospital zones (including critical areas like ICUs, OTs, ERs, and general wards). This role ensures strict compliance with hospital infection control policies, biomedical waste segregation laws, and service level agreements (SLAs), managing a team of housekeepers to provide a safe, sterile, and welcoming environment for patients, medical staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Management & Shift Operations

• Roster & Allocation: Manage daily attendance, create shift rosters, and deploy housekeeping staff efficiently across critical and non-critical hospital zones.
• On-Floor Supervision: Conduct regular floor rounds to inspect the quality of cleaning, ensuring restrooms, patient rooms, corridors, and waiting areas meet clinical standards.
• Training & Briefing: Conduct daily toolbox talks and ongoing training sessions for staff on proper chemical dilution, mopping techniques, patient room turnover etiquette, and personal grooming.

2. Infection Control & Critical Zone Safety

• Sterilization Protocols: Supervise the specialized cleaning and high-level disinfection protocols required for Operation Theatres (OT), Intensive Care Units (ICU), Emergency Rooms (ER), and Isolation Wards.
• Cross-Contamination Prevention: Enforce the strict use of color-coded microfiber cloths and mop heads to prevent cross-contamination between high-risk and low-risk zones.
• PPE Compliance: Ensure all staff members strictly wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—including heavy-duty gloves, masks, and aprons—based on their assigned area.

3. Biomedical Waste & Material Management

• BMW Compliance: Strictly monitor the segregation, collection, and transport of Biomedical Waste (BMW) according to government colors (Yellow, Red, Blue, White puncture-proof containers) and maintain error-free logbooks.
• Inventory Control: Track the daily consumption of cleaning chemicals, consumables (hand wash, tissues, garbage liners), and tools. Raise timely indents to prevent stock-outs.
• Equipment Upkeep: Ensure all cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers) is maintained in a hygienic and operational condition.

4. Audits & Communication

• Audit Readiness: Maintain all required documentation, checklist logs, and registers for internal quality reviews and external healthcare audits (e.g., NABH, JCI).
• Incident Reporting: Report any workplace hazards, needle-stick injuries, chemical spills, or infrastructure damage instantly to the Infection Control Team and Facility Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 2–5 years of housekeeping experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role strictly within a hospital or healthcare facility.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards, terminal cleaning processes, spill kit management (mercury/blood spills), and Biomedical Waste Management rules.
• Leadership & Soft Skills: Ability to handle high-stress situations, manage emergency call-outs, and communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and patient relatives.
• Languages: Fluent in Telugu and Hindi; basic written and verbal English is mandatory for documentation and reporting.
