Job Description: Furniture Designer & Customize Design Drafter

We are seeking a skilled Furniture Designer / Custom Drafter who excels at turning client-specific requests, custom dimensions, and unique aesthetic ideas into execution-ready, millimetre-precise technical drawings.

Position Summary

As a Furniture Designer / Technical Drafter, you will be responsible for creating detailed 2D production/shop drawings, joinery details, and structural blueprints for custom furniture manufacturing. You will transform 3D concepts, sketches, and aesthetic ideas into highly accurate, millimetre-precise technical layouts that our factory artisans can execute flawlessly.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Shop Drawings: Create highly precise 2D production drawings, multi-view orthographic projections, cross-sections, and exploded assembly views using AutoCAD.
• Joinery & Engineering Details: Draft exact details for wood joinery, internal metal reinforcements, foam layering, and hardware placements for luxury sofa frames and cabinetry.
• Material Optimization (BOM): Calculate exact dimensions and material requirements to assist in creating the Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Design Optimization: Evaluate 3D renders or initial design concepts to ensure they align with Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) principles without compromising luxury aesthetics. And rendering the final products.
• Factory Floor Collaboration: Interface regularly with the prototype and production teams to resolve structural or mechanical bottlenecks during manufacturing.
• Revisions & Archiving: Revise drawings based on feedback from New Product Development (NPD) leads, factory supervisors, or clients, and systematically archive all master engineering files.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial/Product Design, or ITI Drafter certification.
• Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD (2D). Experience using 3D modeling tools (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, SolidWorks) to visualize custom assemblies is highly preferred.
• Agile Problem Solving: Deep understanding of furniture construction, joinery, and hardware to engineer structures for unique, never-before-made custom designs.
• Material Awareness: Practical knowledge of working with premium wood species, custom veneer matches, luxury leather tolerances, stone/marble integration, and specialized metal finishes.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of drafting experience specifically within a custom-made / Customized furniture manufacturing unit or high-end interior architecture firm.
