PCTP Operator

The PCTP Operator ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the physico-chemical treatment plant. This role focuses on chemical dosing, mechanical filtration, real-time system monitoring, and regulatory compliance to safely eliminate harmful industrial waste. [1, 2, 3]

Core Roles & Responsibilities

System Operation & Process Control

• Operate plant machinery including pumps, clarifiers, mixers, filters, and dosing systems.
• Manage chemical dosing processes by precisely calculating and adding coagulants, flocculants, and pH adjusters.
• Monitor system parameters such as flow rates, pressure, and tank levels using computerized SCADA or PLC control panels.
• Adjust treatment processes dynamically based on changing influent quality or automated alert triggers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Quality Testing & Sampling

• Collect routine wastewater samples from various stages of the treatment cycle.
• Conduct laboratory tests for critical parameters including pH, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand, and turbidity.
• Analyze test data to verify that treated effluent meets internal quality standards and strict environmental guidelines. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine inspections of pipelines, chemical storage units, and mechanical hardware to identify wear or leaks.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions like pump failures, valve jams, or piping blockages to avoid plant downtime.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks including cleaning filters, flushing lines, and calibrating sensors.

Compliance, Safety & Documentation

• Maintain detailed logs of daily operational data, chemical consumption, and test results.
• Enforce workplace safety protocols, particularly regarding the handling and storage of hazardous chemicals.
• Prepare compliance reports for management and environmental regulatory bodies to prove safe discharge operations.
