Assay Master

• Required QualificationsB.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent qualification.
• 2–5 years of experience in a BIS Recognized Assaying & Hallmarking Centre (AHC) or Precious Metal Testing Laboratory.
• Strong fundamentals in:

1. Basic Chemistry
2. Fire Assay of Gold
3. Silver Assaying and Purity Testing
4. Laboratory Safety and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

Technical Knowledge (Preferred)

Candidates should have working knowledge of the following BIS Standards and laboratory practices:

• IS 1418 – Assaying of Gold in Gold Bullion, Gold Alloys and Gold Jewellery/Artefacts (Fire Assay Method).
• IS 15820 – General Requirements for Establishment and Operation of Assaying & Hallmarking Centres for Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts.
• IS 1417 – Grades of Gold and Gold Alloys, Jewellery and Artefacts.
• IS 2112 – Hallmarking of Silver Jewellery and Artefacts.
• IS 2113 – Assaying of Silver in Silver Bullion, Silver Alloys and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts.
• Familiarity with BIS Hallmarking Regulations, HUID requirements, laboratory documentation, quality control procedures, and proficiency testing.

Additional Skills

1. Ability to interpret BIS standards and laboratory SOPs.
2. Good documentation and record-keeping practices.
3. High attention to detail with commitment to analytical accuracy.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining quality and turnaround time.
5. Need to do night shift on rotational basis.
