Job Description
Role OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Solar Service Engineer to join our operations and maintenance (O&M) team. In this role, you will be the frontline expert responsible for the performance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial solar PV systems. You won’t just be "fixing panels"—you’ll be ensuring our portfolio reaches maximum energy yield and helping our clients transition smoothly to a sustainable future.
- Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Diagnostics: Conduct site visits to troubleshoot underperforming arrays, inverter failures, and communication outages.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections, including thermal imaging, string testing, and torque checks to prevent downtime.
- Commissioning: Support the final stages of new installations by testing system integrity and configuring monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA).
- Corrective Repairs: Replace faulty components such as inverters, optimizers, modules, and balance-of-system (BOS) equipment.
- Reporting: Document all field activities via digital service reports, detailing root cause analysis and recommended further actions.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a strict "Safety First" culture, adhering to OSHA standards and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace) protocols.
- Required Qualifications & SkillsTechnical Education: Associate degree or vocational certification in Electrical Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Experience: [X] years of hands-on experience in solar PV O&M or electrical construction.
- Electrical Expertise: Strong understanding of DC and AC circuits, National Electrical Code (NEC), and the ability to read blue prints/single-line diagrams.
- Physical Ability: Comfort working at heights (ladders/roofs), in various weather conditions, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Soft Skills: Excellent customer service skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
- Licensing: A valid Driver’s License is required.
