Job Description

Position: Medical Superintendent (MS)

Location: Vedansh Super Specialty Hospital & Heart Centre, Dadri

Department: Hospital Administration

Reports To: Medical Director/ CEO



Role Overview

The Medical Superintendent (MS) is the senior-most authority responsible for overseeing the overall functioning of the hospital. The MS plays a critical leadership role in ensuring smooth coordination between clinical and administrative departments while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and operational efficiency.

The MS will lead the hospital’s day-to-day operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and implement policies that support quality healthcare delivery. This role requires a strong balance of medical expertise, administrative capabilities, and leadership skills to maintain an efficient and patient-focused healthcare environment.

The Medical Superintendent will act as a key link between hospital management, doctors, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure that the organization’s goals and quality standards are consistently achieved.



Key Responsibilities

Hospital Administration & Operations

·     Oversee the complete day-to-day operations of the hospital including

·     OPD, IPD, Emergency, ICU, OT, Diagnostics, and Pharmacy.

·     Ensure smooth coordination between clinical and non-clinical departments.

·     Implement and monitor hospital policies, SOPs, and operational guidelines.

·     Ensure proper patient flow management and minimize waiting time.

 

 

 

·     Maintain high standards of patient care and patient satisfaction.

·     Ensure preparedness for emergency and critical care services at all times.



2. Clinical Governance & Patient Care

·     Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety guidelines.

·     Coordinate effectively with consultants, medical officers, and paramedical staff.

·     Address escalated patient complaints and ensure timely resolution.

·     Monitor medical documentation and ensure compliance with MRD standards.

·     Promote ethical medical practices and quality treatment standards.



3. Human Resource Management & Team Leadership

·     Supervise the performance of doctors, nursing staff, and administrative teams.

·     Support recruitment, orientation, and training of medical and non-medical staff.

·     Ensure proper duty rosters and manpower utilization.

·     Encourage teamwork, discipline, and a positive work culture.

·     Conduct regular review meetings to improve departmental performance.



4. Financial & Resource Management

·     Support management in budget planning and financial monitoring.

·     Ensure optimal utilization of hospital resources, equipment, and infrastructure.

 

 

 

·      Monitor operational expenses and control unnecessary costs.

·      Ensure proper inventory management of medicines and   consumables.

·      Contribute towards achieving hospital revenue and performance targets.



  5. Regulatory & Legal Compliance

·     Ensure compliance with Clinical Establishment Act, Biomedical

·     Waste Management Rules, Fire Safety regulations, and other legal  requirements.

·     Lead NABH accreditation process and maintain quality standards.

·     Ensure all statutory licenses and registrations remain valid and

updated.

·     Maintain adherence to ethical and legal medical practices.



6. Coordination & Reporting

·     Report hospital performance, challenges, and updates to the Managing Director / Board.

·     Prepare monthly MIS and operational reports.

·     Maintain coordination with corporate office for implementation of strategic decisions.

·     Build professional relationships with consultants, vendors, government authorities, and medical associations.



Qualification & Experience

·     MBBS (Mandatory)

·     MD / MHA / MBA in Hospital Administration or Healthcare

·     Management (Preferred)
