Job Title: Dental Assistant

Job Timings:

Monday to Saturday

mornings, 9 am to 1.30 pm and

evenings, 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm

Reports To: Dentist

Job Summary:

A Dental Assistant provides support to the dentist during clinical procedures, ensures patient comfort, maintains efficient office workflow, and assists in overall dental operations. This position requires attention to detail, patient care skills, and familiarity with dental instruments and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Clinical Assistance:

·        Assist the dentist during dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and exams.

·        Prepare and organize dental instruments, materials, and equipment for use during procedures.

·        Ensure the sterilization and proper maintenance of dental instruments.

·        Take and develop dental X-rays as instructed by the dentist.

·        Provide chairside assistance, including suctioning, handing instruments, and mixing materials.

2.   Patient Care:

·        Prepare patients for dental treatment, ensuring their comfort and answering any initial questions.

·        Educate patients on oral hygiene, postoperative care, and dental care products.

·        Record patients' medical and dental histories and update them as necessary.

·        Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments and managing patient records.

3.   Infection Control:

·        Adhere to guidelines for infection control.

·        Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental operatory areas before and after procedures.

·        Handle and dispose of hazardous waste materials in compliance with safety standards.

4.   Administrative Support:

·        Schedule patient appointments and manage patient check-in/out procedures.

·        Assist in billing, coding, and processing insurance claims as needed.

·        Maintain inventory of dental supplies and ensure adequate stock of materials.

·        Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding orders and deliveries.

5.   Technical Skills:

·        Operate dental radiography equipment and assist in taking intraoral and extraoral images.

·        Maintain and troubleshoot dental equipment when necessary.

·        Perform laboratory tasks, such as pouring and trimming models.

Qualifications:

·        Education: SSC/ HSC pass, Nursing / Dental assistant training done

·        Certification: Certification in dental radiography and

·        Experience: Previous experience as a dental assistant preferred but not mandatory. New graduates with hands-on training are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·        Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

·        Basic knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.

·        Competency in using dental software and maintaining electronic health records (EHR).

·        Strong organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

·        Full-time based in a dental clinic/ practice.

·        The position requires standing for long periods and working in close proximity to patients.

·        May involve exposure to dental materials, bodily fluids, and radiographic equipment.

Compensation:

·        Salary based on experience and qualifications.
