Industrial Automation & PLC Communication Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Automation & PLC Communication Engineer to integrate industrial machines with our Real-Time Production Monitoring Platform (Kontrolix). The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, PLC data acquisition, machine connectivity, and troubleshooting across different PLC brands.

The primary responsibility is not PLC programming, but establishing reliable communication with PLCs, HMIs, industrial devices, and legacy machines to collect production data, machine status, alarms, cycle counts, and downtime information.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate industrial machines with the Kontrolix platform.
• Establish communication with PLCs using Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, Profibus, CAN, and other industrial protocols.
• Read and configure PLC communication registers, memory mapping, and tag addressing.
• Diagnose and resolve PLC communication issues, including blocked ports, communication failures, OEM restrictions, and network configuration problems.
• Configure and troubleshoot Industrial Ethernet networks, RS232, RS485, and serial communication.
• Interface PLCs with IoT Gateways, Industrial PCs, Edge Controllers, and SCADA systems.
• Collect machine data such as Production Count, Machine ON/OFF Status, Cycle Time, Downtime, Alarms, and Energy Consumption.
• Integrate Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Delta, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Keyence, and other PLCs.
• Perform machine commissioning, testing, validation, and site troubleshooting.
• Work with software developers to expose PLC data through APIs, MQTT, OPC UA, or database integration.
• Prepare communication architecture, register maps, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical support during customer installations and deployments.

Required Skills

Strong understanding of Industrial Automation and Control Systems.

Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols:

• Modbus RTU
• Modbus TCP
• Profinet
• Ethernet/IP
• OPC UA
• Profibus
• CAN/CANopen
• Experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Delta, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or similar PLCs.
• Good knowledge of Industrial Ethernet, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP networking, and serial communication.
• Ability to troubleshoot communication failures and industrial networks.
• Experience with HMI and SCADA integration.
• Knowledge of Industrial IoT Gateways and Edge Devices.
• Understanding of electrical control panels and wiring diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, MQTT, or cloud connectivity will be an added advantage.
• Willingness to travel for machine commissioning and customer support.
