Job Summary

The Sales Officer will be responsible for developing and managing sales of FMCG products within the assigned territory. The role involves appointing new retailers and distributors, generating business from existing customers, ensuring timely collections, monitoring market activities, and achieving monthly sales targets.

The candidate must be field-oriented, result-driven, and capable of building strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, distributors, modern trade outlets, and institutional buyers.



Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Develop new retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Increase product availability and visibility in assigned markets.
  • Generate repeat orders from existing customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market segments.
  • Conduct regular market visits and customer meetings.

Retail & Channel Expansion

  • Appoint new retail outlets as per company targets.
  • Develop relationships with:
  • Kirana Stores
  • Farsan Stores
  • Supermarkets
  • Departmental Stores
  • Hotels & Restaurants
  • Corporate Gifting Buyers
  • Private Label Buyers

Market Intelligence

  • Collect competitor information regarding:
  • Pricing
  • Schemes
  • Product launches
  • Market activities
  • Submit weekly market feedback reports.

Order Management

  • Generate purchase orders from customers.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and logistics teams.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Monitor order execution and customer satisfaction.

Collection & Payment Recovery

  • Follow up for outstanding payments.
  • Ensure collections are received within approved credit terms.
  • Minimize overdue payments and bad debts.

Reporting

  • Submit Daily Sales Report (DSR).
  • Submit Weekly Market Report.
  • Submit Monthly Sales Performance Report.
  • Update CRM and customer database regularly.



 

Monthly KPI / KRA

Revenue Target

  • Achieve monthly sales target assigned by management.

Customer Development

  • Add minimum 40–60 new active retailers per month.

Product Placement

  • Ensure placement of all key SKUs in active outlets.

Collection Efficiency

  • Maintain collection efficiency above 95%.

Reporting Compliance

  • 100% timely submission of reports.

Market Coverage

  • Cover assigned territory as per route plan.



Required Skills

  • FMCG sales experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop retailer and distributor networks.
  • Good understanding of market dynamics.
  • Basic computer and CRM knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.



Educational Qualification

  • Graduate in any discipline preferred.
  • MBA/PGDM in Marketing will be an added advantage.



Experience

  • 1–5 years of experience in FMCG Sales.
  • Experience in Snacks, Namkeen, Food Products, Consumer Goods, or Retail Sales preferred.

  • Fixed Salary: As per company policy
  • Performance Incentive: Based on sales achievement
  • Travel Allowance: As per company policy
  • Daily Allowance: As per company policy

  • Self-motivated and target-oriented.
  • Willing to travel extensively within assigned territory.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Focused on sales growth, market expansion, and collection management.
  • Experience in handling retailers, distributors, and wholesale markets will be preferred.
