VMC Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and responsible VMC Operator to operate and manage CNC Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines for precision manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for machine setup, operation, quality inspection, tooling management, and maintaining production efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in CNC machining, the ability to read engineering drawings, and knowledge of measuring instruments and machining processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Machine OperationsOperate CNC Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines efficiently and safely.
• Load and unload raw materials, fixtures, and finished components.
• Perform machine setup and alignment according to production requirements.
• Monitor machining operations and ensure smooth production flow.
• Perform tool offset corrections and minor machine adjustments when necessary.
• Tooling & SetupInstall and replace cutting tools, inserts, holders, and fixtures.
• Set work offsets and tool offsets accurately.
• Ensure proper clamping and fixture setup before machining.
• Monitor tool wear and replace tools to maintain machining quality.
• Quality ControlRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process sheets.
• Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
• Record inspection and production data accurately.
• Maintenance & HousekeepingPerform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of machines.
• Maintain coolant levels and lubrication systems.
• Follow 5S standards and maintain workplace cleanliness.
• Report machine issues and breakdowns immediately to the maintenance team.
• Safety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Ensure safe handling of machines, tools, and materials.
• Adhere to company quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
• Maintain discipline and professionalism on the shop floor.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of CNC VMC machine operations
• Understanding of machining processes and cutting parameters
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as:
• Vernier caliper
• Micrometer
• Height gauge
• Bore gauge
• Dial indicator
• Basic knowledge of G-Code and M-Code
• Understanding of tool offsets and fixture setups
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
