Job Description for Civil engineer

The Civil Engineer is responsible for supervising and executing Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) installation and structural steel erection activities at project sites. The role ensures quality, safety, and timely completion of work as per approved drawings and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Execution & Supervision

• Supervise PEB structural steel erection, including columns, rafters, purlins, girts, bracings, and sheeting.
• Ensure erection work is carried out as per approved structural drawings and method statements.
• Coordinate with fabrication teams and ensure timely material availability at site.
• Monitor alignment, plumbness, bolt tightening, and structural stability.

Quality Control

• Verify materials received at site as per BOQ and approved drawings.
• Conduct inspection of anchor bolts, base plates, and structural members before erection.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Maintain quality records and inspection reports.

Safety Management

• Ensure all steel erection activities follow safety guidelines.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Monitor safe usage of cranes, lifting tools, and scaffolding.
• Enforce use of PPE at site.

Coordination & Planning

• Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Prepare daily progress reports and weekly site updates.
• Plan manpower, machinery, and materials for smooth execution.
• Resolve technical issues at site.

Measurement & Billing

• Prepare work measurements and assist in billing.
• Track material consumption and wastage.
• Maintain site documentation and progress records.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–2 years of experience in PEB or structural steel erection projects.
• Knowledge of structural drawings and fabrication details.
• Familiarity with MS Excel and basic project reporting tools.
