Safety Officer

ROLE OVERVIEW

SKBC Realty is committed to maintaining the highest safety standards across all construction activities on our upcoming residential project in Sahakar Nagar, North Bangalore. We are hiring a dedicated Safety Officer to implement and enforce EHS policies on site, ensure statutory compliance, and foster a zero-incident culture among all workers, contractors, and visitors. This is a site-resident role for the full duration of the project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●   Develop, implement, and continuously monitor site-specific Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) plans and procedures

●   Conduct daily site safety inspections across all work fronts; identify hazards and issue written corrective action reports

●   Ensure all contractors, subcontractors, and workmen always comply with PPE requirements and safe work practices

●   Conduct safety induction for all new workers and visitors before site entry; maintain induction records

●   Plan and deliver regular toolbox talks, safety awareness sessions, and skill-based safety training for site workforce

●   Investigate all near-misses, unsafe acts, and accidents; prepare detailed incident investigation reports with root cause analysis and preventive actions

●   Maintain all statutory safety records, registers, and reports as required under the Building & Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act, Factories Act, and applicable IS codes

●   Liaise with Labour Department, BOCW Board, ESIC, and other statutory bodies for inspections, renewals, and compliance filings

●   Inspect and certify scaffolding, shuttering, hoisting equipment, tower cranes, and other temporary structures before use

●   Enforce work-at-height permits, hot work permits, confined space entry protocols, and other PTW (Permit to Work) systems

●   Monitor and ensure fire prevention measures, first-aid readiness, and emergency response equipment are in place and functional

●   Oversee emergency response and evacuation procedures; plan and conduct periodic mock drills

●   Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure safety compliance is maintained without impeding construction progress

●   Prepare and submit weekly and monthly EHS reports to management

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

●   Diploma / Degree in Safety Engineering OR any engineering discipline with a recognised safety certification

●   Mandatory: Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS) from a Board of Technical Education OR equivalent NEBOSH / IOSH / CSP certification

●   3–5 years of active EHS experience on construction sites (residential or commercial building projects preferred)

●   Thorough knowledge of BOCW Act, applicable IS codes, and NBC 2016 safety provisions

●   Practical experience in scaffolding inspections, work-at-height systems, crane and lifting operations, and confined space protocols

●   Ability to engage, communicate, and train a multilingual site workforce (Kannada / Hindi / Tamil)

●   Proficiency in MS Office for EHS report writing, record maintenance, and incident tracking

●   Strong interpersonal skills to enforce safety norms firmly yet constructively with contractors and labour
