Printing Press Operator

A Flex Printing Machine Operator sets up, calibrates, and operates large-format digital or flexographic printers to produce banners, vinyl, and outdoor signage. Responsibilities include preparing digital files, loading raw materials, monitoring print quality, and performing routine machine maintenance to ensure production goals are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up and operate wide-format printers (e.g., eco-solvent, flexo, or inkjet presses) to produce high-quality prints.
• File Preparation & Color Matching: Review work orders, prepare digital files, align artwork, and ensure correct color registration and calibration.
• Material Handling: Load and handle printing substrates such as flex, vinyl, mesh, and one-way vision film.
• Quality Control: Continuously monitor print quality during production runs to prevent misprints, banding, or color inconsistencies.
• Ink Management: Mix and prepare inks according to job specifications, and monitor ink levels and viscosity throughout the printing process.
• Maintenance: Clean and maintain printing equipment, replace parts, and troubleshoot basic mechanical or software issues to minimize downtime.
• Inventory & Safety: Track inventory of printing media and inks, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment in compliance with safety standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience operating wide-format printers (Solvent, Eco-Solvent, or Flexo) or a strong background in a related printing/production role.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of print materials, color theory, and RIP printing software (or basic computer skills to operate design/print software).
