Job Description
- Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesPrepare the endoscopy procedure room before each case.
- Check, clean, and set up endoscopes and accessories before procedures.
- Assist the physician during upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy (if applicable), and other endoscopic procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures by verifying identity, obtaining required documentation, and providing pre-procedure assistance as directed.
- Monitor and maintain an adequate stock of endoscopy instruments, consumables, and accessories.
- Perform cleaning, high-level disinfection, and storage of endoscopes according to infection control guidelines and hospital protocols.
- Ensure all endoscopy equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions for repair or maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, disinfection logs, and procedure documentation as required.
- Assist in specimen collection, labeling, and transportation to the laboratory.
- Follow strict infection prevention and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Assist in patient positioning, transfer, and post-procedure room turnover.
- Ensure emergency equipment and resuscitation supplies are available and ready for use.
- Support the nursing and medical teams in delivering safe and efficient patient care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, quality standards, and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement activities, audits, and training programs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the endoscopy unit.
