Job Description

About the Role

SMCI is looking for a Sales Coordinator to take full ownership of our existing client relationships across the paints, coatings, plastics, rubber, and paper industries. This is a client-facing role with end-to-end responsibility for account management — regular communication, order coordination, and relationship building for products including Titanium Dioxide, Borax, Melamine, STPP, Hexamine, Lignosulfonates, and Paraformaldehyde. The founder will be stepping back from day-to-day client contact to focus on growth, new markets, and new product lines, so this role is expected to become the primary and consistent point of contact for our client base.


Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of an existing portfolio of client accounts as the primary point of contact, building the kind of trust and continuity that currently sits with the founder

•    Proactively reach out to clients on a regular cadence (not just reactively) to check on requirements, share pricing updates, and stay ahead of upcoming orders

•    Manage the complete order cycle: quotation, order confirmation, dispatch follow-up, and payment collection follow-up

•    Track client order history and buying patterns to anticipate reorders and identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities across product lines

•    Coordinate internally with the import/documentation team to ensure delivery commitments to clients are met

•    Independently handle routine client queries, complaints, and basic negotiation; escalate only pricing exceptions or major commercial decisions to leadership

•    Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of client interactions, orders, and pending follow-ups (CRM or structured tracker)

•    Prepare periodic sales reports, pending order summaries, and collection status updates for management

•    Flag at-risk accounts early (reduced order frequency, complaints, competitor mentions) and take corrective action before escalation is needed

•    Build strong enough relationships with clients to retain them through the transition from founder-led to coordinator-led contact


Requirements

•    2–4 years of experience in sales coordination, account management, or inside sales, ideally in chemicals, industrial materials, or B2B trading/distribution

•    Demonstrated ability to independently manage client relationships, not just execute instructions — this role requires real ownership

•    Confident, professional communicator over phone, WhatsApp, and email

•    Working understanding of order-to-delivery cycles in a trading/distribution business

•    Strong follow-up discipline; able to manage multiple accounts without things falling through the cracks

•    Working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets; CRM experience a plus

•    Hindi/English fluency required; Gujarati/Marathi a plus for pan-India coverage
