Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Dispatch Management
· Plan and coordinate daily dispatch activities.
· Ensure timely delivery of finished goods to customers, distributors, and dealers.
· Manage transportation vendors, freight partners, and logistics service providers.
· Monitor vehicle placement, loading schedules, and dispatch timelines.
· Track shipments and resolve transportation-related issues promptly.
· Optimize freight costs and improve transportation efficiency.
Warehouse & Inventory Coordination
· Coordinate with Stores, Production, and Sales departments for material movement.
· Ensure proper storage, handling, and dispatch of finished goods.
· Monitor stock availability and support inventory control processes.
· Minimize material losses, damages, and shortages during transportation.
· Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
Supply Chain Planning
· Prepare dispatch schedules based on sales orders and production plans.
· Coordinate with production teams to ensure product availability.
· Forecast transportation requirements and vehicle utilization.
· Maintain smooth flow of goods between manufacturing units, warehouses, and customers.
Documentation & Compliance
· Ensure proper preparation of E-Way Bills, Invoices, LR Copies, Delivery Challans, and Transport Documents.
· Maintain accurate logistics records and dispatch reports.
· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
· Coordinate with Accounts for freight billing verification and vendor payments.
Vendor Management
· Develop and maintain relationships with transporters and logistics partners.
· Negotiate freight rates and transportation contracts.
· Evaluate vendor performance based on delivery timelines, cost, and service quality.
· Resolve disputes related to freight charges, shortages, and damages.
Team Management
· Lead and supervise dispatch, warehouse, and logistics staff.
· Allocate daily responsibilities and monitor team performance.
· Conduct training on logistics processes, safety, and compliance requirements.
· Ensure discipline, productivity, and adherence to SOPs.
MIS & Reporting
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports.
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs):
o On-Time Delivery (OTD)
o Freight Cost per Dispatch
o Vehicle Utilization
o Transit Damage Rate
o Dispatch Accuracy
o Order Fulfillment Rate
· Present logistics performance reports to management.
Required Skills
· Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations.
· Transportation and fleet management expertise.
· Warehouse and inventory management knowledge.
· Vendor negotiation and cost-control skills.
· Knowledge of GST, E-Way Bill, and transport documentation.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent communication and leadership skills.
· Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP Software, and Logistics Management Systems.
