Electrical Technician

• Role: Electrician / Wireman – Fault Repair
• Reporting to: Team Leader – Fault Repair
• Function Name: Service Delivery

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for 100% operational uptime, safety, field electrical wiring, power supply provisioning, and physical cable maintenance for network elements and outdoor equipment across the designated operational area.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Assume primary responsibility for maintaining continuous power supply and cabling integrity to field network devices to ensure 99.99% Customer Uptime.
2. Regularly inspect, service, and maintain field power distribution boxes, UPS systems, power adapters, and switch enclosures as per company electrical and wiring standards.
3. Provide prompt electrical and cabling support for new node deployments, cross-functional team requirements, and emergency restoration activities.
4. Attend electrical and physical wiring complaints on the field and ensure quality, permanent resolution within the defined Turnaround Time (TAT).
5. Perform hands-on electrical troubleshooting using standard test instruments (multimeters, cable testers, clamp meters) to isolate supply drops, short circuits, or wiring faults.
6. Coordinate with NMS/NOC teams to respond immediately to power failure alerts or node outages in assigned field locations.
7. Analyze recurring power and cabling issues, identify root causes, and execute preventive measures or escalate to higher technical tiers for permanent rectification.
8. Ensure 100% adherence to electrical safety procedures, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) rules, and cardinal field safety norms.
9. Strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for jointing, grounding, power tapping, and cable routing.
10. Provide structured feedback and suggestions to management to improve field electrical reliability and service delivery standards.

Must Have Education: ITI / Diploma in Electrical Trade, Wireman Certification, or equivalent technical qualification.

Certifications & Skills: Valid Electrician/Wireman License, basic understanding of telecom/networking infrastructure, power backup systems (UPS/Inverters), and earthing systems.

Experience: 0 to 5 years of relevant hands-on field experience as an electrician or wireman in telecom, ISP, electrical utilities, or field infrastructure services.

Practical Expertise: Strong hands-on experience in electrical wiring, cable splicing/crimping, switch box connections, power supply troubleshooting, and safe handling of low/medium voltage systems on field poles or outdoor cabinets.
