Job Description
A CNC Machine Quality professional operates, programs, and troubleshoots CNC equipment while maintaining rigorous quality control. They interpret technical drawings, conduct first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools, and document non-conformances to ensure all machined parts strictly meet engineering specifications and dimensional tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Inspection: Perform precise in-process and final inspections on machined components using instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Machine Operation & Setup: Set up, load, and run CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment according to process sheets and work instructions.
- Blueprint Reading: Read, interpret, and translate complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to verify part dimensions, material parameters, and tolerances.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate machine logbooks, inspection reports, and quality logs; track cut lists and update production records.
- Troubleshooting & Calibration: Identify and adjust for tool wear or programming glitches. Verify machine settings by performing test runs and checking the first-run part against specifications.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to EHS guidelines, 5S workplace organization standards, and ISO documentation requirements to maintain a safe and zero-accident environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred, or a high school diploma with demonstrated math and reading abilities.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 4 years of hands-on experience in machining and quality inspection.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using standard QA measuring instruments, basic G-code or M-code programming, and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Physical & Soft Skills: Ability to stand for long hours, strong visual attention to detail, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
