Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to develop custom packaging machinery for the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. You will turn complex automation concepts into robust, compliant mechanical systems. This role requires advanced mastery of SolidWorks, functional knowledge of IronCAD, and expert application of GD&T. [1, 2, 3]

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design: Create 3D models and 2D drawings for custom Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) and packaging lines.
• Industry Compliance: Design systems meeting strict pharmaceutical standards (cGMP, FDA, cleanroom) and rugged automotive specifications.
• CAD Management: Utilize SolidWorks for primary design and IronCAD for rapid, flexible conceptual modeling.
• Precision Engineering: Apply advanced GD&T (ASME Y14.5) for tight-tolerance mechanisms and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Component Selection: Specify high-speed pick-and-place units, pneumatic actuators, servo motors, indexing drives, and conveyor systems.
• Factory Collaboration: Support the production floor during assembly, validation, and debugging phases. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
• Experience: 3–6 years designing custom packaging machinery or high-speed automation SPMs.
• SolidWorks Expertise: Advanced capabilities in large assemblies, kinematics, weldments, and sheet metal.
• IronCAD Knowledge: Proven ability to navigate, model, and export files efficiently within IronCAD.
• GD&T Mastery: Deep understanding of geometric tolerances, datums, and precise fitments for moving parts.
• Material Knowledge: Familiarity with stainless steel variants (304/316L) for pharma, and heavy-duty plastics/alloys for automotive parts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vision system integration and robotic arms (Scara/6-Axis).
• Understanding of pharmaceutical validation processes (IQ/OQ protocols). [1]
