Job Title: Hostess/Host

Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and professional Hostess to be the first point of contact for guests. The ideal candidate will create a welcoming atmosphere, manage seating efficiently, and support smooth restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and welcome guests promptly with a warm, friendly attitude
• Manage the waitlist and accurately estimate wait times
• Seat guests according to table availability and server rotation
• Answer phone calls and take reservations
• Maintain an organized and clean host/hostess stand and entrance area
• Present menus and inform guests of specials or promotions
• Communicate with servers and kitchen staff regarding seating flow and special requests
• Address guest concerns or escalate issues to a manager when necessary
• Assist with clearing, resetting, or bussing tables during peak times if needed
• Monitor dining room capacity and coordinate with management for efficient table turnover
• Handle to-go orders or coordinate pickups when applicable

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in customer service or hospitality is a plus, but not required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Positive attitude and professional appearance
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with reservation software (e.g., OpenTable, Resy)
• Basic math skills for handling waitlists and payments (if applicable)
• Bilingual abilities a plus, depending on location

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally (for menus, supplies, etc.)
• Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly through the dining area
