Job Description
Seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-driven Accountant responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, statutory compliance, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory requirements applicable to an FMCG / manufacturing business.
The role demands accuracy, integrity, and the ability to independently manage books and compliance timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Maintain day-to-day accounting entries in Zoho.
- Record purchase, sales, expenses, bank, and journal entries.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of invoices and vouchers.
- Maintain ledger scrutiny and trial balance accuracy.
2. GST Compliance & Reconciliation
- Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B).
- Perform monthly GST reconciliation:
- Sales vs GSTR-1
- Purchase vs GSTR-2A/2B
- Books vs GST portal
- Reconcile output liability and input tax credit.
- Ensure vendor GST compliance and follow up for mismatches.
- Maintain proper GST records for audit readiness.
3. TDS Compliance
- Deduction and deposit of TDS as per Income Tax Act.
- Filing of TDS returns (24Q, 26Q).
- Monthly reconciliation of TDS payable vs books.
- Issuance of Form 16 / 16A.
- Handling TDS notices and corrections, if any.
4. Bank & Financial Reconciliation
- Monthly bank reconciliation (BRS).
- Vendor and customer ledger reconciliation.
- Expense vs budget tracking.
- Monitoring receivables and payment follow-ups.
5. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Knowledge of:
- GST Act
- Income Tax Act (TDS provisions)
- MSME reporting
- Assist in statutory audit and tax audit.
- Coordinate with CA for finalization of accounts.
- Maintain compliance calendar and ensure zero delays.
6. Payroll & Compliance Support (If Applicable)
- Process monthly payroll.
- Maintain employee reimbursement records.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong reconciliation skills
- High numerical accuracy
- Knowledge of GST and TDS provisions
- Ability to handle statutory notices
- Good documentation and record-keeping habits
- Basic Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables preferred)
- Integrity and confidentiality
