Job Description: Data Entry & Software Operator (Retail Mart)

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Entry & Software Operator to manage our mart’s retail management software. The primary responsibility will be processing and entering purchase bills, updating inventory levels, and ensuring that our retail software accurately reflects current stock and pricing.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Bill Entry: Accurately enter all supplier invoices, purchase bills, and credit notes into the mart’s software system.

Inventory & Pricing Management: Update item quantities, cost prices, selling prices, and manufacturing/expiry dates in the system upon receiving new stock.

Software Maintenance: Manage daily software operations, including barcode generation, updating product categories, and troubleshooting basic software glitches.

Stock Verification: Match physical purchase bills against received stock to ensure there are no discrepancies in quantity or pricing before updating the system.

Reporting: Generate daily, weekly, or monthly purchase and stock reports for management review.

Data Integrity: Ensure high accuracy in data entry to prevent stock-outs, over-purchasing, or billing errors at the cash counters.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: 1–2 years of experience as a Data Entry Operator, Inventory Clerk, or Computer Operator (preferably in a supermarket, mart, or retail environment).

Software Skills: Familiarity with retail software, inventory management systems, or ERP systems (experience with software like Tally, Marg, Busy, or custom retail POS systems is a major plus).

Technical Skills: Good typing speed with high accuracy and a strong command of Microsoft Excel.

Attention to Detail: Ability to spot pricing discrepancies, incorrect tax calculations, or quantity mismatches on vendor bills.

Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) or a Graduate degree in any field. A basic certification in computer applications is preferred.
