Job Title: Optometrist

Location: Gurukul, Ahmedabad

Number of Openings: 2 

Salary & Benefits:

• Fresher: ₹25,000 CTC per month

• Experienced (Bachelor in Optometry): ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 CTC per month (based on experience and skills)

• Opportunity to work in a professional clinical environment with exposure to advanced ophthalmic equipment 

Working Days & Timings:

• Days: Monday to Saturday

• Timings: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Role Overview:

The Optometrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, assisting ophthalmologists in diagnostic and pre/post-operative procedures, and ensuring accurate use of ophthalmic instruments. The role requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent patient-handling skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical & Diagnostic Duties:

• Perform detailed eye examinations using standard clinical protocols

• Conduct subjective refraction and retinoscopy for both adult and pediatric patients

• Assess and document visual acuity, binocular vision, and refractive errors

• Evaluate patients’ central and peripheral vision fields and record results accurately

• Measure axial length of the eye using ultrasound/biometry equipment

• Carry out additional diagnostic tests as advised by ophthalmologists  

Pre & Post-Operative Support:

• Assist in pre-operative assessments and investigations

• Conduct post-operative evaluations and monitor patient recovery progress

• Maintain accurate patient records for surgical and non-surgical cases  

Equipment Handling:

• Operate and manage ophthalmic instruments such as:

o Corneal Topography

o IOL (Intraocular Lens) Calculator

o Auto-refractometer and other diagnostic devices

• Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment

• Record and maintain equipment readings and outputs systematically  

Patient Care & Communication:

• Administer prescribed eye drops for dilation, anesthesia, or medication

• Educate patients about eye care, treatment procedures, and post-care instructions

• Handle patient queries and provide a comfortable clinical experience

• Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Coordination & Reporting:

• Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists for complex cases and test interpretations

• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all patient data

• Follow clinic protocols and ensure compliance with healthcare standards 

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry (for experienced candidates)

• Experience:

o Freshers are welcome

o Prior clinical experience preferred for higher salary range

• Strong knowledge of optometric procedures and diagnostic techniques

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

• Attention to detail and patient-centric approach
