Fitter

. Assembly WorkThe fitter will be responsible for assembly of products such as:

• Stainless steel doors
• Railway coach components
• Dustbins
• Frames
• Panels
• Hinges and brackets
• Sheet metal fabricated parts
• Other production items as assigned

He should be able to assemble parts as per drawing, sample, and supervisor’s instructions.

2. Door Assembly and FittingThe candidate should be able to perform work related to door assembly, including:

• Fitting of hinges
• Fitting of locks, latches, handles, stoppers, rubber profiles, and other hardware
• Alignment of doors and frames
• Checking opening and closing movement
• Checking gap and fitment
• Drilling, tapping, riveting, grinding, and finishing as required
• Ensuring smooth operation of assembled doors

3. Machine OperationThe fitter should be able to operate or assist in operating basic machines such as:

• Drilling machine
• Tapping machine
• Grinding machine
• Cutting machine
• Hand grinder
• Buffing / finishing tools
• Riveting tools
• Hand tools and power tools
• Basic press or bending machine assistance, if required

Experience on sheet metal production machines will be preferred.

• 4. Production SupportFollow daily production targets given by the supervisor.
• Assist in cutting, drilling, bending, grinding, assembly, and finishing work.
• Move material safely from one process to another.
• Ensure correct parts are used for the correct job.
• Avoid material mix-up during production.
• Maintain proper flow of work on the shopfloor.

5. Drawing and Measurement UnderstandingThe candidate should have basic understanding of:

• Measuring tape
• Vernier caliper
• Scale
• Angle checking
• Hole marking
• Basic engineering drawings
• Sample-based assembly

He should be able to check basic dimensions before and after assembly.

6. Quality ResponsibilityThe fitter will be responsible for ensuring:

• Proper alignment and fitment
• No loose hardware
• No missing parts
• No extra holes or wrong drilling
• No sharp edges or burrs
• No major scratches, dents, or grinding marks
• Proper movement of doors and assemblies
• Clean finishing before handing over to QC

Any defect or mismatch should be immediately reported to the supervisor or quality inspector.

• 7. Tools and Workplace DisciplineUse tools and machines safely.
• Maintain tools in good condition.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Follow safety instructions on the shopfloor.
• Use PPE such as gloves, goggles, shoes, and mask wherever required.
• Avoid wastage of material, hardware, and consumables.
