Job Purpose: The Site / Central Legal Executive role in coal mining is responsible to oversee legal document preparation and verification, resolving litigation matters, and managing insurance issues. This role ensures compliance with statutory regulations and handles legal aspects of applicable compliances. The primary purpose is to safeguard the company's legal interests, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to all legal requirements in coal mining operations.

Site or Central Legal Executive - NR

Legal Proceedings:

Manage all legal proceedings and follow-up on pending cases across various courts by assisting Legal Lead.

Initiate and pursue legal proceedings on behalf of the company, including preparing writs, defences, submissions, and other pleadings for civil and criminal cases.

File and renew caveats as required for the clusters before the relevant courts.

Vet, draft, and review contracts and agreements related to the project, as well as draft various letters and applications as needed.

Prepare draft notices and replies to notices received from external parties and review it with the Legal Lead.

Compliance and Regulatory Support:

Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations by preparing replies to complaints/notices received and submitting them to relevant stakeholders.

Provide support to all departments within the cluster regarding the applicability and compliance of various acts, rules, and regulations.

Meet with government authorities alongside business team members, briefing them on regulatory applicability and potential risks to the business.

Reporting & Budgeting:

Prepare monthly/quarterly management information system (MIS) reports for the site head and head office.

Develop and manage the legal budget for the Cluster, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Submit all judgments to the company management and maintain both hardcopy and softcopy records of judgments, communications with courts, and authorities.

Draft contract terms upon request from user departments and ensure their accuracy and compliance.

Technology Integration:

Apply data analytics and digital platforms to provide actionable insights and enhance decision-making in legal matters and business unit operations.

Adopt digital solutions for managing legal documentation, tracking compliance, and coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies to protect the company's interests.

Collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary and manage relationships with legal service providers.

Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the company's operations and advise management accordingly.
