Electrician

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the electrical systems of our cashew processing plant. The role covers the complete electrical backbone of the factory — from LT panels and motor control circuits to processing machinery such as shelling lines, Borma/dryers, grading and sorting machines, boiler auxiliaries, air compressors, and packaging equipment. The electrician will work closely with the maintenance team to minimise breakdowns, execute preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, compliant electrical operations.

• Key Responsibilities

.1 Breakdown & Troubleshooting

•     Attend electrical breakdowns on processing machinery (calibrator/grader, steam cooker, shelling machines, dryers/Borma, peeling machines, colour sorter, vacuum packing machines) with minimum downtime.

•     Diagnose faults in motors, starters (DOL / star-delta), contactors, relays, MCBs/MCCBs, overload relays, timers, sensors, and limit switches.

•     Troubleshoot control circuits, VFDs, and basic PLC-driven equipment; coordinate with OEM service engineers where required.

•     Support electrical troubleshooting of utilities: air compressors (screw type), boiler auxiliaries (feed pumps, blowers, fans), cooling systems, and DG set.

2.2 Preventive & Planned Maintenance

•     Execute daily, weekly, and monthly PM checklists for panels, motors, and machinery as per the plant's PM schedule.

•     Carry out panel cleaning, terminal tightening, thermal checks, insulation resistance (megger) testing, and earthing checks.

•     Monitor motor current, temperature, and abnormal conditions; report early warning signs before failure.

•     Maintain plant lighting, exhaust/ventilation systems, and weighing scale power supplies.

2.3 Installation & Improvement Work

•     Install and commission new motors, machines, panels, cabling, and lighting as per plant expansion or modification plans.

•     Carry out panel wiring, cable laying, glanding, and termination to professional standards with proper labelling/ferruling.

•     Support energy-saving initiatives (power factor, load balancing, replacing inefficient equipment).

2.4 Safety & Compliance

•     Strictly follow LOTO (lock-out tag-out), work permits, and electrical safety procedures.

•     Maintain earthing systems and ensure compliance with electrical safety norms applicable to a food processing facility.

•     Keep panels, cable trays, and electrical rooms clean and hazard-free (food safety and hygiene standards apply).

2.5 Documentation & Spares

•     Record breakdown details, root causes, and rectification in the maintenance log/CMMS.

•     Maintain a list of critical electrical spares (contactors, relays, MCBs, fuses, sensors, drive cards) and inform the store/maintenance head for timely procurement.

•     Assist in updating single-line diagrams (SLDs) and control wiring drawings.

Skills Required:

•     Education: ITI (Electrician) / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

•     License: Wireman/Supervisor license (Gujarat electrical license preferred).

•     Experience: 4–8 years hands-on experience in an industrial plant; food processing / agro processing experience strongly preferred.

•     Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems, motor control circuits, starters, and LT panel work.
